Sump Underguard

Featured Replies

My vRS has a metal underguard fitted, to prevent damaging the oil sump... only issue I have, is that I have to go over every speed bump at 1mph or there's an almighty *CRUNCH* as the guard makes contact. Even if I hit a pothole at the wrong angle, the guard hits the deck

Anyone else have this trouble?

Easy to solve.

Take it off and send it to me, sure I'll even pay the postage.......

Is it lowered?

you will get this as it sits very low but its there to do a job!!!

they are design to take a good hit thats why we have them fitted mainly police cars but anyone running silly low

so unless your running sily low then it a waiste of time anyway as you wont catch the sump but god peice of mind i guess. just a pig when it comes to services etc etc

Hasn't been lowered or anything - however it has done 132k, so maybe time to replace the suspension with some aftermarkets. OEM ones must be knackered by now :o

Thanks for the replies - I'll just have to grin a bear it!

Even if they are knackered i would be very suprised they would allow the sump guard to hit as you discribe.

Something don't soound right there.. :S

got a set of standard vrs suspension and springs here, came off my car at 60k, rode fine, PM me if interested ;)

Take it off. That's what lots of the Police folks did.

Weights tons, and doesn't help handling.

If your suspension is a bit knackered, won't help either.

If you're really worried about hitting the sump, get a Brazillian short sump from g-werks ;)

Well... our local force kept them on due to the amount of officers sumping them!

G-werks idea sounds good - I'll look into that. Cheers buddy B)

Here's a link to them on the new g-werks site: link
