De-wipered Rear

Featured Replies

Any photos of this done?

How hard is it to remove it?

Considering removing mine with the Skoda badge smoothed off and completely de-badged.

A few have done it, but if the road is wet and like now in the winter covered in salt and dirt, you cannot see anything out the back window as the back of the car attracts dirt like no tomorrow.

same gets dirty so quick i think this is one of the only cars where i seem to be forever using it

I can show you a rough photo of how it looks...

As someone knicked my whole wiper arm at the weekend !!

It's only been 3 days of driving, and already its a pain in the butt looking through the rear view.

There we go...still has the motor sticking out, but you'd get the rough idea how it would look removed.

combination of both, but yeh, it was...ripped the silicone coming off the EGR delete, this photo was agggessss back tho haha

My seat's rear wiper failed, so I removed the entire wiper assembly, motor and all.

I then got a plug from halfords, stuck it in the hole and never looked back!

Literally....

In the winter, I had very few problems with viability, wing mirrors do a good job.

And if it gets really bad, the muck will lump together and you can see through the gaps... Helps fuel economy too as I never ran the heated window.

Quick wipe over before a journey and generally, all was well.

But then, the motor broke, so MOT failure with it fitted. Take it all out, pass go and collect £200. Sort of.

Iv had mine done for about a year or so. Looks good, could get a pic if u wanted, but others have posted some.

In this ****ty weather the dirt builds up a bit, but we do have wing mirrors fitted each side to see behind us. Lolol, I know a few people "get on their high horse" about this, but seriously people, it's a supermini. I understand if someone just prefers to have a clear view out the rear window, but it's not an issue for most of us, nor is it dangerous.

I've done it, when the motor failed. I use a strong coating of gunk on the glass which minimises the effect water has on obscuring vision. I can live with it fine, :) This photo is 2 years old now, but looks the same generally (no fly eyes kit on lights anymore)

That happened to me just before Christmas. I also did something simular temporarily, when my wiper motor failed and I was looking for a new one. I used a bottle cork stopper thing, then a bottle inside the boot in case I used the rear washer.

I think you can buy proper plastic bungs to block it off.

Those who have had the badge taken off and boot smoothed, assuming it was done at a bodyshop how much did they charge you to do it?

I do love the look of a smooth, debadged/wipered car! Despite the dirt magnet effect of the rear of the Fabia!

Would not recommend losing this much needed facility.

Easy to do I assume, remove all wiper mechanism, large grommet to fill hole, job done.

Cost of your labour free, grommet about 50p, regular manually cleaning rear window now a boring chore.emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I have a water "blade" from Baker21 to get all the water off the glass. Small chore but what the hell.

After reading this thread I noticed that some scrote has taken the little cap which covers the nut that holds the wiper etc on... don't suppose any of you who have taken the wiper off have one laying round ;)

Rear wiper isn't in the test, working, broke or otherwise.

My mistake then, I was advised it was...

Also worth considering, rain-x, or halfords / other generic rain repellent.

This will, obviously, prevent muck settling on the screen.

Can't imagine you by roadside pouring down with rain in your suede leather coat using your waterblade from Baker21. emoticon-0136-giggle.gifLOL

Its only about 6 quid from the dealers ;)

Indeed, but I'd rather give someone on here money than the dealers.

Got one off of my old Polo in the garage if it's any use? (It's a 6n2, so not too sure if it will be or not.) If you can find out the size, I can measure it for you if you want?

If not, I think I paid a HUGE £2! from a dealer for one, so not much outlay there.

I let the gunk on the screen do the job if its axtually freshly raining. I just use the blade if I come out in the morning and all glass/roof has water on it. Helps ensure clear vision all round from the start of my journey. The rear screen coating is getting a bit old now so tomorrow I might do a wash, polish and waxing to give a clean finish.
