I'm renewing my insurance and need to know if the standard Fabia VRS alarm and immobiliser are Thatcham cat 1?

Anyone know for sure?

They should only need to know the car's fitted with the standard manufacturer's alarm...

Otherwise you'll have to show them this: Thatcham ratings

and the OEM system is Thatcham approved.

They want Thatcham cat 1 and it's ok because Ive just been doing what I should have done and clicked SEARCH to find out it is CAT 1 from Thatcham site, I'll try do a link: http://www.thatcham....dex.jsp?page=75

When I fill in insurance websites (I will be in the next week) I just put "Factory fitted Alarm and immobiliser". That normally meets insurance company's requirements. However as mentioned above they are Thatcham Approved.

I'm sure someone will come along and correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression

that the Factory alarm/immobiliser system was equivalent to Thatcham category 2.

Mrs Grrs SDI had an Factory immobiliser only until it was broken into.

We had a Toad AI606 alarm + immobiliser fitted to it after that.

They broke the rear quarter light and reached in and wound the rear window down

and climbed in through that. They also exited via the same window as far as we can tell

as the doors were deadlocked.

If they want to get in and their balls are big enough no amount of alarms or immobilisers will stop them.

You haven't read the Thatcham documents linked to above which clearly indicate they're group 1

Out of interest, do all vrs's make a beep when locked and double beep when unlocked? if so can you do away with the beep?its beginning to get to me!

VAGCOM can add/remove the beep.
