1.6FSI

I've recently been offered a 2005 Octavia 1.6fsi estate, anything I should watch out for ? I've had 2 diesel Octavias, this petrol one drives ok, but I would be interested in experiences of reliability, maintenance problems etc. Cheers

I've had my 1.6FSI for 14 months and have just past 38k (had done 24k when I bought it). Thus far has been totally reliable and averages close to 40mpg with a mix of urban and motorway driving. It's had one service in that time and required only the regular service items - although the brake fluid was also changed on the garage's recommendation.

Having come from a 1.6 petrol Nissan, the Skoda is faster, quieter and considerably more economical.

I've had my 1.6 FSI Ambiente over three years from new.

No major problems - just the much discussed blocked rear wiper jet and damp pollen filter.

Best car I've owned.

I have my 1.6MPI (not FSI) and as other guy said, my best car so far.

Recently drove my A4 from 2000 and in the Skoda you feel more quality (it is new and the A4 is old but....).

Making between 40-46mpg in mixed driving (with light foot). 40k km so far.

Early 1.6FSIs reportedly coked up quite badly if run on cheap fuel, and had to be run on 98RON stuff to avoid problems. I don't know if/when VAG managed to sort this out, though...
