If you're burning oil the exhaust will be blue. Going back to original post - there is NOT 1.5 l between top and bottom of distick hatched area.

Blue smoke? And how much is the hatched area?

The thread title reffered to me losing from the top of the hatching, to past the bottom and onto the end of the dipstick... is how i guessed 1.5l.

Regardless of if its 1.0 or 1.5 litres in 80 miles thats still wayyy to much.

Are you sure your putting it in the right hole? (ooerr).

Blue smoke?

Oil is blue

Derv is black (dunno what petrol is mind)

Water (and cold car condensation) is white.

Tried running it with a sheet of paper or something behind the exhaust, see if it gets oil thrown out unburnt onto it?

I did wonder why my screen wash was black... :giggle:

Ah right. Will go out in a sec and create some oil art

EDIT: Just went and tried the paper experiment. After 3 times of a few sets of revs. There was a small scatter of black particles. Barely visible though.

Hardly anything ide call un-normal...

Guess its down to VW and their £90 and hour charges.,.

So...

Got my car back from VW.

Their report is:

"Carried out visual check - found EGR valve to be leaking on the underside onto the exhaust manifold. Checked expansion tank and coolant is clean. Checked intercooler and found fairly staurated oil. Manifold change over valve in EGR is seized"

So it seems they claim its the EGR an fault and also say im exagerating my oil loss :wonder: Im sure i have the empty oil bottles in my garage to prove it...

Whats the manifold change over valve? And what do they mean by saturated oil in intercooler?

Ill obviously take their advice and change the EGR. By the sounds of it its not just a clean up job. Is it best to say get an allard EGR delete at this point?

They also said under heavy load there was some blue smoke but not LOADS. So if EGR doesnt help, head off and check valve stems etc.

Any thoughts on all this?

Have you replaced the turbo? That was what was reported as fubard when you had some work done a few weeks back wasn't it?!

I did get told that it "Could" be the turbo but only because they found oil in the lower pipe.

But when i posted pictures on here everyone said it was fine so i agreed not to spent £600 odd getting new turbo etc.

Ive managed to get some of the drive on ramp things so at the weekend i aim to fix the load signal wire and ill also take the lower IC pipe off and check that.

Also got told my front tyres were an advisory. Be it there brand new 3 weeks ago :giggle:

EDIT:

Heres the picture i was sent:

icpipe.jpg

And when i think about it, is that the pipe that feeds down into the IC?

Fiiting is a piece of ****. You might struggle with the exhaust blank though.

My money is on the turbo

Well I'll get the egr anyway. And is there no way of checking the turbo? Only way I know is IC pipe?

Ordered the delete pipe last night so hopefully it will come tomoz or monday.

Just checked oil, 100miles and from max to very bottom of dip stick haha. Love it

Also had the flashing glow plug light on way home earlier so looks like another £10 on the brake pedal switch.

Damn this is the best car i have ever brought haha :giggle:

P.S: If anyone fancied taking a picture of their dipstick ide be grateful :)

This is mine:

What are you going to do about the engine management light when you fit the EGR delete kit?

Keep checking it via vcds... been told by a couple of people it doesnt allways come up? Then again... knowing my luck haha.

Tbh, ill see if it has any effect... cant see it solving my issues...

my EGR is totally mapped out on my current mapping. no CEL = ideal. :D

It does however mean if (I mean when ;)) my CEL does come on it will probably be for something serious.....

I could use this as an excuse to get a remap... however...

Dont fancy getting a map done if its running sheet. Which i think its running fine... but just thirsty for oil :D

get a re-map and your cel light mapped out at same time.

maybe the extra boost will highlight any weaknesses in the turbo :giggle:

Devonutopia who did you mapping to remove the EGR? I had my T5 Sportline done by Pendle Performance as he was recommended over on the T5 forums but i would like some advice with the Fabia as i hate EGR's

P.S your inlet is ready for the post

EDIT: NVM.

Looks like ive foud the issue.

Just checked the ECU milleage not on the instrument cluster...

It showed 130k.

Not the 78k the car shows.

Now it all makes sense...

Damn dude :(

Craig,

I should be able to get you a picture of my dipstick if you can wait until tomorrow?

The 130,000 is probably kilometres in VCDS? That's about 80k isn't it? :-)

That's a hell of a lot of oil going no where.... it outta be fairly obvious with that much I would have thought :-( Hmmmm!

Im sure you said in a previous thread you'd already had it plugged into VAG COM and said the mileage checked out fine???

The cluster works internally using kms and not miles, so 130K as already mentioned is about right for your mileage.

A pic won't be good enough.

You both need to measure for comparison, from under the dipstick circular shoulder (where it sits on top of the dipstick tube) to the very bottom end - and also the how far up from the bottom to the Start and Finish of the Min to Max markings on the dipstick.

DB.
