Got bored so did some mirror puddle lights

Featured Replies

Fitted small micro single leds into the wing mirrors, come on when unlocking the car, with the door lights etc usually found on high end cars, so i thought why not on a skoda haha, also did a switch above the stereo so they can be turned on with the rest of the lights i.e interior/footwell and door lights its annoying if i drop something in the dark and cant find it, anyway heres some pics, its actually quite hard to spot where its fitted. Its not quite dark when i took these but they light up the floor no prob. there was actually a small hole under the mirror already must be a drain hole, so may need to drill a couple of holes either side if water starts building up

Looks a nice Classy touch! Next the Door handles eh!?

I'd love to do my door handles. Think that would be a lot of work would it trev.

That looks pretty cool.

The door handles would look the shizz too.

think door handles would be a pain, though i have got a spare set since i got colour coded ones, the thing that would worry me was the wiring as it would have to go through the door, id be worried about the window chopping through it lol

though i still have two spare i need to find a place for, think ill do something in the back

I like that. How easy would it be to make it a bit more diffused, so the light looked less intense on the floor?

Is it literally a straight feed off the door lights and into the LED (with whatever resistors are needed too I guess)?

Thanks.

Some Skodas have these as standard ;)

Nice idea on a Fabia - looks good.

its not really that intense, after all the idea is to light up the floor, theres naff all room in the wing mirror for fitment id almost gave up until i found these leds,

its a straight feed off the door lights its quite hard feeding the wire through into the wing mirror as theres not much room in there either, no resisters needed really as leds take up hardly any power so wont affect the door lights, ive also wired up a switch as i was annoyed that my footwell lights didnt come on with the interior lights are turned on manually, so if i drop something in the footwell i can turn these on now, sorted

Brilliant, cheers. Might give this a go at some point, see how it goes!

Looks good, I would personally silicon it up just incase water gets in.

done that anyway to protect the led, as i said above just need to keep an eye on any water build up to see if i have to drill a couple of little holes
