Lost it's poke

Featured Replies

Evening All

My Father has a 1.8 SLXi which seems to have lost it's poke over the last few years. I can't recall if it's R or S reg, but it's only got just over 60k on the clock.

Anyone suggest any obvious points to check for coking or similar? Don't really want to take it to a tuning specialist to be charged a fortune, just want to try and find some of it's lost performance.

It's a completely straight vehicle, no mods, chips or anything else, and don't want to change that.

Any thoughts greatfully welcomed.

Have you tried changing the air filter

Is it the AGN engined one? 20v non turbo?

As chris said, change the air filter, it can't hurt.

Also, check that the rear brakes aren't dragging. It's a common probelm on the vRS and I ssume the elegance will be the same.

I'm afraid off hand I don't know the engine code, but yes it is 20v non turbo.

The air filter was something I was considering, the brakes have caused various troubles over the last few years, resulting in more than one caliper having been replaced, so I'd like to hope that they are not the issue, otherwise some garage owner might wake up with a horses head!

Its the AGN, I have one.
