re-map invisible?

Featured Replies

hi if my fabia has to go back to main dealers for more work under warranty if they put a diagnostic machine on it. will they be able to tell when the ecu software has been modified e.g. date, time?

i know they will be able to see higher requested boost levels and the like but can they actually tell when the ecu map was altered?

Mines been back to the stealers a few times under warranty and they have never questioned me about it....

My mates turbo went when it was remapped. Went back, had it replaced no problem. Even if they did notice, it's only parts associated with the modified part that'll be void

its the flywheel thats under warranty so you can pretty much guarantee they will say the remap has caused the wear and will void the warranty

just wondered if there was a definiate answer as to weather the date of change is visable

They could find out if they wanted to ;) Hell, give me 20 seconds behind the wheel with my vagcom laptop and I could tell you if it was mapped. ;)

IF the Skoda dealer had an ecu update you risk having the map overwritten.

Remapping is 100% detectable and don't let anyone else tell you different.

If you have a flash switching device like our STS the on some ECUs the wouldn't be able to tell.

3 mates have all had turbos replaced, I really think you'll be fine tbh

had AA out to my car when i had a flat battery he plugged it in and it cam up on his computer that the ecu had been updated or moded software so yes

im aware they could tell but what i want to know is weather they will know WHEN not if it has been mapped

A dealer wont know that no, not unless the ECU was sent somewhere.

It's a question I have always wondered. I know you can see the ecu has been flashed but can you actually see when it was flashed?

im aware they could tell but what i want to know is weather they will know WHEN not if it has been mapped

Not on a Fabia I ECU no. On the newer ones, yes.
