vRS Mk 2

Featured Replies

Had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the looks of the Mk 2 vRS, but the VAT free offer has tipped the balance for me, so put an order in on Saturday.

Spec - rallye green / cruise control / climatronic / dark chrome alloys / sunglasses holder / storage box.

Couple of questions though - thought about adding the Amundsen sat nav, but does it accept full UK postcodes ?, if not i'll stick with my portable.

Secondly , what's the recommended fuel RON. Have a feeling Skoda are saying 98 RON or better, which is a bit harder to get hold of locally to me.

98 Ron appears to be what's needed.

I have ordered the sat nav but not sure re post codes I thought the price was good and just went for it.

How's longs your wait ?

If the sat nav is anything like the Columbus on our Superb you can only put "XY12 2" in it, wont take full postcodes for some reason.

i have the amunsden but due to a dealer error im still waiting for the navigation disk so cant try postcodes.

the integration with the maxidot, mdi and bluetooth is A1!!!!! can dial numbers on the screen by pressing the number and scroll through the phone book on the maxidot display. im so pleased i went for the amunsden!

i too have a rallye green one with cruise and black wheels, also have the MFSW and bluetooth

cool sounds like i made a good choice ordering the sat nav. I thought it was a bargain at £ 500 less the VAT !

Fuel cap says 98RON, so mine gets V-Power exclusively.

No point risking putting lower fuel in, when it states Super Unleaded on the fuel cap.

Don't have a build week yet, but been told to expect about 12 weeks. Salesman thought Skoda were due to produce a batch of uk spec cars in February. Was told the vRS might be subject to less delay than the 1.2tsi, and in particular the diesel, which apparently has quite a backlog to clear. So fingers crossed - just in time for the plate change would be nice.

with fuel, i too only use 98/99 ron fuel.

the power under your right foot always brings a smile though!

quite good fun to race the cocky BMW's at the lights and win :p not that i do that, of couse....

Interesting that Skoda specify 98 RON for the Fabia, I'm pretty sure Seat say 95 RON for the Ibiza fr / cupra.

I notice quite a few problems with the twin charger engine on the Seat forums - wonder if VAG think some of them are fuel related and are now playing it safe by changing to 98 RON ??.

What do you find to be the best technique for launching quickly off the line? Just plant your foot and let the car do the rest or feed in the power gradually? And which is best for that entirely theoretical traffic light grand-prix D or S mode? ;)

Don't floor it off the line, with 1st gear being so close ratio, you will just wheel spin and get nowhere fast.

Is there anythiyou can add to the fuel to up the octane as i live in cork, ireland and can't get super unleaded here?

Also anyone from ireland know where i can get it?

same thing was posted on the seatcupranet website, but theres a guy on there who said he works at the VAG R&D centre in wofsburg.

He said it was all rbbish, they plan to phase it out eventually as it costs alot to produce due to the twincharger design. they plan to phase itout after a while for a high tech turbo variant thats cheaper to produce. However he said its not in the pipe line yet especially as there are 2 hot new Polos to be released in the next year or so.

Guess where looking at a Polo R!!

Yes. You can buy Octane Boosters that will make it 97 octane fuel.

Silkolene are famous for making the stuff. However there are other companies who make octane boosters.

I would recommend this stuff. Millers oil - Power Petrol Ecomax It will keep the fuel system clean and add 2 octane numbers.

Sure he ment Polo not Polo platorm as Polo R would make sence and I know Audi are still talking about an RS1 and it has been proven from what I can see from the info here the 1.4 can easily be remaped to 220- 225bhp in stock form and I'm sure VAG can probably push that a bit further with a few tweaks if they realy wanted to.
