Which replacement wiper blades?

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for replacement wiper blades?

I normally use a Bosch brand for previous cars and found very good but the Yeti uses an all rubber blade

which I have not come across before.

Do you have to use SKODA parts and has anybody found a different brand works better.

Not convinced that this new technology version is any better than conventional blades especially

in the recent cold weather.

The fixing looks different so does this maybe restrict choice.

If Bosch equivalents fit anyone know the model no's for both front and rear as Halfords UK

don't have any information for Yeti's yet (too new a model).?

I replaced mine with Bosch Aerotwin blades. They are better and quieter than the original Valeo blades.

In a German comparison test (I´think by ADAC), the Bosch won hands down over the competiton.

BTW, i do not think there is room for the standard multiple spring design, so you should stick with the single spring type.

Thanks for that ...Any idea what number/code (front/rears if known) on the Bosch's packaging as even the Bosch website has no listing for Yeti's and same applies to Halfords one of our regular car accessories suppliers in UK.

All you need to do is measure their length - all three are different.

Thanks again for info. my Bosch search on google didn't reveal anything Yeti specific even on Bosch website..

Front Bosch wipers appear to be A980S AC6 ?? which are branded as 'exact fit' which I assume is a car specific fitting instead of the usual universal adapter type more common.

Harder to find the rear wiper exact fit version if such a version exists.

By the way what is the difference between Retro-fit and Exact fit versions???

As I understand it - 'Exact fit' are direct replacements to manufacturers original fit - 'Retro-fit' are to add flat blades to a wiper arm not originally fitted with flat blades?

Need to measure your rear for 'Exact fit' replacement?

At the moment I am confused as to what Elsie has been supplied with - they are the all rubber ones. Are they aero blades or what? I thought Skoda supped aero blades as standard.

What is the advantage of the bosch twin wiper thingy. Are they better than what is currently fitted?

I've always gone for oem wipers in the past, but I'm open to better alternatives.

I also noticed that the passenger (L/H) one isn't touching the windscreen when it's at rest at the very end for about 4-5cm, and when driving in the really grotty weather up to Scotland and back it left a whole area of the passenger windscreen un-wiped, even though I was using loads and loads of VAG screen wash.

Yours confused

The wiper gets stiff in the cold and holds the shape of the "rest position".

So we need winter wipers made of softer rubber compound with more silica in emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

The OEM wiper blades are the Aerotwin design, but probably Valeo manufacture rather than Bosch. Their rubber profile and rubber composition are a little different, but basically the same idea - and directly and very easily replaced. They are ot all rubber, there is a metal spring incorporated in the design.

T o un-stck the passenger blad, clean the crud off with some WW fluid and work it a little to get it clean. The crud may make the spring stick in the rubber. I have had no problems with either the original Valeo or the new Bosch blades.

I noticed the other day that my wipers were leaving a rain mark at the top of the drivers wiper.

When I looked at it later, the wiper blade was starting to split, so I visited Halford's and found some Bosch Aero Twin blades. As I was fitting them I realise the passenger side one was going at the bottom. They have only done about 22,000 miles.

Initial thoughts are that they are much, much better at clearing the windscreen than the OEM ones, especially the nearside which always only partially cleared the windscreen.

Just recently replaced a set of Skoda (Valeo) blades on my son's Fabia I (fitted new when he bought it), for a set of universal fit Bosch blades, sourced for less than a tenner delivered from fleebay. Verdict the Bosch appear superior to the Valeo.

My passenger wipe has the same issue as RH had with his, not touching the screen at the outside, its been like this pretty much since new and I've tried bending it inwards to no avail. Also tried cleaning the blade but what is WW fluid that someone mentioned and would hid help?

I've bought blades fro this place before , quick delivery and plenty of options.

Bosch are better than Valeo, but SWF are better than Bosch. SWF is what you find on expensive cars and they are priced accordingly; however, they are cheapest in the end because they not only work better but seem to last for ever. (As it happens, SWF is now owned by Valeo as an attempt to get some business away from the bottom of the market.)

My most recent SWF catalogue is from 2009, so I haven't checked whether they now do Yeti sizes.

Bosch Aerotwin are better than the original Skoda (Valeo) blades - clean better and last longer.

I've just changed mine this week as they had split, so rang the dealer and they wanted £42.

Searched on here and found this thread and bought the Bosch aerotwins for a shade over £20 .I think there a bit cheaper on the bay.

Blimey!

My wipers never get old enough to split! I change them at least once a year, if not twice!!

That's more often than he changes his pants!

:giggle:

But, for the rear blade, which is your advise?

I normally do as well. Last time I'll let the dealer sort those out...or not.
