Screen wash low warning

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if the Mk1 is supposed to tell me on the dash when the screen wash is low? Mine doesn't, it just stops when empty. I am guessing they did not forget this simple feature when designing the Mk1, but don't want to try diagnosing something that does not exist!

Hey,

My MK1 vRS has it, perhaps it was an option, or the sensor that keeps an eye on it has failed?

My 2001 Elegance has this feature. I would suggest that maybe the prongs were covered in a lay of slime and thus making the sensor think the tank still had fluid in it - this happened to me once. The other option is that someone might have disabled the bongs via vag-com (not sure if the light can be disabled).

Yeah my one no longer works as the probes get junked up.

Does anyone know if the probes are easy get to, to clean?

I thought you only had the low screen wash low level if you had headlight washers? Mine doesn't seem to have a warning for this.

Mine doesn't have it, and from looking at the build sheet for the car, it was an optional extra. So I assume your car doesn't have that feature either.

Here's what the build sheet says:

mmm, well I have headlight washers (think that is standard for Elegance spec)

I cleaned mine with by washing out the tank with a hose pipe....and probably giving the prongs a rub with the end of the hose pipe / long piece of wire.

My Octavia 2003 have digital dashboard , so i dont know if i have it , previous owner says that it warns , but yesterday i had no water and no alert ,

Somebody have a image of sensor location ? i just see the motor that pump's the water i don't know if sensor is there too

IIRC, only the 5.5l tank has the level sensor.

Mine certainly doesn't have the warning, as I discovered to my peril on the motorway a few weeks ago...
