Are Skoda rims unique to Skoda?

Featured Replies

Seeing as I was looking for a set of Alloys to put my currently discarded summer tyres back on for the summer.

Being for a 2010 1.6 diesel Octavia

Any recommended on-line suppliers ?

cheers

M

Skoda Octy mkII rims are all 5 x 112 PCD, obviously offsets will change depending on rim width etc, but this is the same for mk5/6 Golfs, mkII Seat Leons and most Audis, I think ford galaxy wheels will also fit, so no, they're not unique to Skoda................if thats what you're asking.

For what value of "unique"? Subject to diameter and offset fitting over the brakes and clearing the spring cup and wheel arch, any OEM or dealer option VAG wheel, and most but not all aftermarket rims with a 5x112mm PCD will fit. OTOH, some of the alloy wheel standard Skoda wheel designs may not have been offered on Seat, Vw or Audi (and similarly with other marques, particularly the Audi "Avus" pattern rim).

I noted the Elegance rims are made by Ronal - they make some pretty good alternatives.

I'm also quite keen on the Autec range which match the OEM specs well. I looked at Autec Baltics as winter wheels.

Not really sure what you're asking.

As has been said, the designs are unique to Skoda.

The fitment is not unique- any VAG wheel from the mkV Golf platform will fit (e.g Golf, mkII Leon, mkII TT etc).

As for the mention of BMW- no BMW wheels will not fit. All BMW wheels are 5x120 PCD and the Octavia II is 5x112.

Right, my question was a bit muddled I admit.

When I was getting my winter tyres fitted the guy at Kwikfit told my rims, or more correctly hubs were/was 120 PCD, not 112 PCD as I had assumed as I knew the ould Galaxy was 112 PCD which I understood to be the VW standard & had therefore brought a set of 112PCD VW marked steel rims along with me.

So anyways I got the winter tyres fitted to the origional Skoda rims.

Simples.

But

I then think that I will buy a new set of rims for to refit my almost unworn summer tyres to, leaving my winter fitted to the origional Skoda supplied rims, for next winter (cos I kerbed one in the frost)

However when i inquired in our local supplier ( to which i was referred to by a big local motor factor) they also told me our new Skoda was 120 PCD, and specifically commented different from a VW...............and DA DA da same as a BMW,(he thought) as confirmed in a posting above, so why the apparent confusion :wonder:

Cheers all,

PS

If I were not so lazy I suppose I could/should through a tape on them, or even ph my dealer? ( or even rtfm :S )

As requested;- http://www.elitedirect.com/ or http://www.alloywheels.com/

An alternative would be to scan through fleabay for a set of pre-owned Audi or VW alloys.

Octavia II wheels are 5 x 112PCD - don't let anyone tell you different!

To check the PCD of a 5-bolt wheel (presumes it's not cast or stamped onto the wheel):-

1) Measure between the centres of 1 bolt (call this O) and the one 2 away from it either way (call this D'). Note that D' is used as both a distance and the name of a point.

2) We know that the bolt holes are 72deg apart, and therefore the line O-D' lies at an angle of 36deg to the PCD. Call this angle theta.

3) Applying trigonometry, PCD = D' * sine (theta) + D' * cosine (theta).

Just an observation, but when you put the Skoda vRS details in to the wheel finder on the Elite site, it shows the offset to be 38?? I thought the mkII vRS wheel offset was 51. :S

Proof if it was EVER needed not to go to Kwikfit!! - I would also avoid your local supplier too as they clearly both haven't got a clue!

+1

Most of the VAG range are now 5x112, with a few still using 5x100. What does differ across the models though it the offset (ET).

Thanks to all above,

I should be frothing at the mouth but at 51 years old I have larned that life is surprisingly full of duff information

But wtf do these guys not know? where do they get their duff information from, and more significently why do they perhaps not qualify their statements with an "I think" if appropriate, or hey even consult a reference book???

The quik fit guy appeared to be intelligent & articulate, he was the manager after all :D

The local man is 60 odd and has been in this trade all his life ......I think?

Scheesh.

& thanks again

esp KenOniell for the trig equation

PS

Offsets I know nowt about

All you need to know about offsets

The 18" Zenith and Neptune fitted to the vRS has an offset of 51.
