I though they were 17x7 but I'm sure someone posted quite confidently that they were 17x7.5 recently? Help me out here... Can't remember which they actually are.

17x7, the evolo's that I have are 17x7.5, and they stretch the 205 tyres just a bit too much for my liking.

Spiders are a measly 7 inch wide....

better off with some S3 avus wheels or TT comps as they're 7.5J and can clear 323mm 4 pot Brembo's

try 215/40/17 tires

I will next time, but couldn't quite afford them this time round. £50 more a set!

I use 215 on my spiders and haven't had any issues.

Yeah, I'm planning new wheels for summer and I've decided I need something wider than the spiders. 7.5 might do it. Would like to go up to 8 though. Thanks for the confirmation.

What about the 16" spiders from the estates?
