Mileage too High?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am currently look at purchasing a Fabia VRS in the very near future. I have seen one which i like however the mileage is quite high. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on whether or not this would be considered too high?

Skoda Fabia VRS 07 Plate

85k with FSH, recent Cambelt change and 1 owner from new.

Its up at £5850.

Good deal?

Price is a little high for that milage in my books. I paid 6k for my 2006 vRS with 45k on it last September.

Should be able to get them down.

More concerned about is that mileage too high, and should i look for something older with less miles? Sorry if i haven't explained properly.

Thanks

mine is a 06 plate with 95k still going strong original turbo

only things ive had to do is replace flywheel and clutch (done under warranty)

regular maintenance items try and get the oil and filter changed every 5k miles if possible

HTH

I'd not be frightened of high miles if they were motorway miles. With proper servicing the engines are good for 250K miles and the clutch is probably less worn on a motorway car than a town car as well. I'd rather have a high mileage car (basically it's proof of reliability if you think about it) than a low mileage car.

And of course, it's a BLT engine in that one

I bought mine on 116k. Original clutch and turbo. Ran sweet for ages, 85k is nothing at all

Provided you are buying from a dealer and it comes with a 12 month warranty then the price is right on the button. If you are buying it privately then it is around £1000 over-priced in today's market.

It's not too high provided it has been serviced correctly. Don't just go on the dealer stamps. Demand to see the receipts. No receipts - walk away.

It's an average deal. You are paying the right amount for what it's worth.

If it were me, I would pay £750 more for an identical car with half the mileage.

It's a buyer's market, do the research and it will pay off.

85k means that no matter how well the car runs it's best days are behind it and it's all downhill from here.

hiya,i'd agree that the mileage isn't that high, bought my 06 with 116k mainly motorway mileage, original clutch and turbo.paid 5k for it..have seen the one u mean i think on garstang rd??

04 with 136K. Last diesel did 250K and was still great when sold. Neither ever a missed beat (touches wooden head). It isn't the mileage, it's how it has been treated. Difficult to tell, but I'd suggest that that mileage is just right as too low means seals never get enough movement so check wear on pedals, smoke, etc just as with any other car.

My little Fabia is on 204k miles

She is still sweet and running well

Mileage if looked after is nothing on the diesel1s

as long as looked after and allowd to warm up when cold before it is floored , then no isses

i think if still on OEM from new clutch it shows it has been looked after ;)

happy hunting

Ive heard that VAG diesels are running there best at around 100k.

161k remaped for the last 20k orginal turbo and clutch

I would agree with the every1 else, mileage wouldnt put me off as long as the car has been reguarly serviced and they can provide evidence/reciepts. My car is nearly at 100k and is running very good, i drive a lot of newer compnay cars and the skoda always puts a huge smile on my face when i get in it.
