Can't give you a price for the UK, but it is true that Irish models, do not come with maps installed, ( which seems stupid, considering the fact that the unit, comes as standard in the elegance), however if your dealer wants your business, they should install the map for you. This was done for me and many others, as the map is about €200.

What part of the country are you in, as you might be close to my dealer.

im in carlow, he said it would install the maps for an extra 100e

The price of the

1.6 TDI CR Elegance GreenLine II 5dr

Hi Skoda 300

Was it the dealer in Kilkenny you went to.

I suggest you try Martin Barret in Waterford.I bought my car in KK but it was the biggest mistake.I go to waterford for all my servicing and any warranty claims. They are without

doubt the most helpfull and friendly garage I have ever dealt with,Give them a try and hopefully you will have the same experience.

I would phone Skoda Ireland and check this out. How can they sell you a car with SatNav, and then say you need to pay €100.00 to be able to use it?

My Elegance came with the maps loaded

Sounds dodgy to me! Some dealers will offer to load the maps for free, but charge you if you want your own personal disk, perhaps to sell on once new maps are released. You certainly shouldn't have to pay just to have the maps installed though, although it is correct that they are not installed from the factory (perhaps the disks come direct from a UK supplier??)

It is clearly stated in the Skoda spec list, that the CD is not included, and the actual cost to buy this disc, would be close to €300, however some dealers have bought one and used it to load the info onto the unit, as part of the PDI, this is done to ensure that they get your business, and new business by word of mouth , rather than losing sales.

If a dealer charges you €100, to install maps, the cost for the disc is recouped on 3 sales, if he does the same thing for free, who knows how many extra sales, he achieves. This is more obvious when there are dealers in close proximity to each other, but even if you had to make a 70km return trip, you still would not use €100 in fuel.
