Will these speakers work?

Featured Replies

Just got hold of the rear upgrade Blaupunkt speakers. I was thinking of upgrading the fronts and hoping to keep the qualities of the speakers somewhat similar came across these Blaupunkt speakers http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/thc662-speakers Was thinking of fitting with this kit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160388967469&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I was wondering if:

  • they will fit
  • the tweeters might fit in the standard location (by mirrors) or the original tweeters could be used without worsening the sound
  • my Pioneer head unit (4 x 50 W max output power (MOSFET IC)) can drive them without an amp
  • there are any recommendations on speakers that might be better.

Thanks in advance.

Yep, those should work well - definatly will fit in the gap being quite shallow.

tweeters that low will not yield good results, also dont expect too much bass the lower they will go with your setup will be 100-80hz (audible)but they will sound " slow " mids will be a little compromised due to the speaker trying to reproduce bass and the size of the speaker that the drive has to move (the bigger the speaker, the less the mid-high will sound " fast "), best use would be a crossover @ 125-200 hz to punch up the speed on the mid and install the tweeters separated on the top mounting location and addd a sub (6.5-8")

I've got the same speakers in my Fabia, but they vibrate a lot due to lack of sound deadening

doh indeed! Other than the vibration's what do you think of them? Also what mounts did you use to fit them? The standard speakers I've got don't vibrate at all, so will make sure I fit some sound deadening whilst I'm doing the job.

The speakers are really good (replaced the OE one's due to split in cone) better than the OE ones IMHO.

The adapters I used IIRC are these

When I get enough money I'm going to get some sound deadening

The alpine's seem quite popular, I might go with those.
