Boot Door Wont Open

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Ive just brought myself a MK 1 Fabia VRS 2004, i went around the car checking doors, mechanical aspects, body work ect. Even looked inside the boot to see if everything was straight before picking up the car.

Ive just driven the car home a fantastic experience! Such an improvement on my Mk4 1.3 Fiesta.

When i got home i went to put my bag in the boot. Pressed the button on the key fob and nothing happened. I then proceeded to try the handle and no luck their either.

Ive tried with the car unlocked/locked every combination i could think of.

When i press the button, the red light illuminates indicating a signal is being sent.

Have you guys got any ideas? Am i being an absolute idi*t or is this a common fault?

My fabia's started the same messing about, have to pull the relase on the boot lid a few times

Try pushing down on the boot as you press the button above the number plate.

This started to happen on mine last October so I did a search and found the article in the link below which I found interesting. I decided lubricating the lock would be the place to start when I get a chance to have a look at it.

Meanwhile, the boot jammed again so I leant on the lid just under where the wiper is tried the handle at the same time and the boot opened. Then, while the boot was open, I just kept operating the mechanism about twenty times which appeared to free everything off and keep me going for a bit. I had no further trouble until last Sunday (nearly 3 months!) when it had stuck again, so I repeated what I'd done previously and no issues since. Hopefully I’ll get around to a permanent cure when the weather improves a bit.

Hope this helps.

Mine was the same. I doused the whole mechanism in white lithium grease......left it like that. and its opened everytime since.

Hey guys, Thanks for all your much needed assistance.

It seems to be an issue with the centeral locking control unit, as if you open one of the back doors, you can open the boot just by pressing the button lol
