Mine arrive this week, it's too cold to fit them at the moment!

Just reading this guide, I'm a little bit confused.

Is it not just a case of unplugging the old speakers, and then connecting the new ones in using the same wiring?

Why the need to seperate wires here and there?

Edited by Gti Fly

If fitting to a model without wiring ... I suppose you could just push the wires up underneath it...

That's what I did when I fitted my CD changer in the boot (much thinker cable, too!) I just used a doorstop to wedge the trim away from the carpet, pushed the cable up with a spanner out of some flat-pack furniture, took out the wedge then the spanner, and repeated a bit further down. The trim going up the sides of the rear seats comes out much more easily, so I took that off and did that bit 'properly'!

HTH

Fitting mine tomorrow!!!!!!!!! Cant wait

Ahh I've just been out to the car and realised why!

Connectors are different on the OEM speakers vs the Bluapunkt ones!

Finally got around to fitting these today,

Wasn't too hard, all I did was join the existing wires (two pairs of two) and attach them to the new speakers.

This way the original tweeters still work.

By the way, Is there a correct polarity for the new speakers - because they work either way the wires are attached.

I could not hear any real difference between them when I swapped + / - around.

My VRS doesnt have speakers there!

Thats upsetting lad :( Not sure what you could do except branch off the rear tweeters but then you would have to go back through each door, the rubber thing and under all the trim :/ i wouldnt bother to be fair, your in the front and there in the back lol

Does anyone know if the speakers have a correct polarity?

Because I couldn't seem to hear any difference when I connected mine up

Do they have a large connection and a small connection if so large is +ve. Which should mate up with solid coloured cable which is +ve from hu

If they are connected incorrectly

they will be out of phase.

This will knacker the stereo effect.

Making the sound appear to come from the middle.

Pick a song with a very defined left and right effect

(headphones should make this easier to find)

then play it in the car with all the sound faded to the rear.

If the sound moves from left to right like it did through the

headphones then you've probably sussed it if not switch the wires

around until you're happy.

Alternatively,

If it's an aftermarket stereo it will most likely have a

wiring key on the body somewhere. Just follow the wires from

the stereo through the iso plug and note the colours of the cars

own wiring and connect to suit.

Can't fault this guy- paid for them on eBay at 2:30pm yesterday and got woken by mr mail man at bang on 7am this morning!!!

Ordered from the eBay link above at £17.99 inc delivery.

Can't wait to fit them at the weekend :)

I'm undecided on these, so will look forward to your thoughts with them once you have fitted them bud, if you could give your verdict once they are in of course.

It won't be until the weekend but I will be sure to comment on them. I'm running standard head unit at the moment but will be putting my Sony head unit from my old car in once I've ordered the faceplate etc.

I've fitted mine, and I can say they are an improvement. I used to have to fade the speakers almost all the way to the front because the rears sounded so terrible.

Now the rear passengers can enjoy the music too, the sound is indeed better than it was before.

But please don't think that they are gonna sound amazing, blow your pants off. they don't.

They are much better than stock speakers - fact

They are a bargain at £17 - fact

Everyone should fit these upgrades if you're still running the factory paper speakers.

Fitting is really easy, even I managed to do it!

Just what i needed, my speakers came at the weekend. thanks

The wires on the driver side were red and brown...both had green tracers around them. From what little sense I could make from the Haynes wiring diagram...red is + and brown is -. At least I hope so since theyre all wired up! Alas the passenger side rear tweeter isn't working...not sure if it's a result of my tinkering since I didn't have the foresight to check before rewiring :$

I'll be honest.

Leave the tweeters unhooked - I only realised how blown mine were after unwiring them. Such a cleaner sound now :D

From Haynes, and doing the job...also in my post in Fabia tech section B)

8n/pin1 = Red cable with Green stripe = Rear deck drivers side bass speaker pin1 (+) (Red cable with Green stripe from this to tweeter in rear door)

8n/pin2 = Brown cable with green stripe = Rear deck drivers side bass speaker pin2 (-) (Brown cable with White stripe from this to tweeter in rear door)

8n/pin7 = Blue cable with White stripe = Rear deck passenger side bass speaker pin1 (+) (Blue cable with White stripe from this to tweeter in door)

8n/pin8 = Brown cable with White stripe = Rear deck passenger side bass speaker pin2 (-) (Brown cable with White stripe from this to tweeter in door)

I guess the thing is they're blasting almost directly into your ear hole from behind :)

This is true! Bit of a silly position for 'rear' tweeters, right in the centre of the car.

Wouldn't be so bad if you could hear both.

But you just get the drivers side buzzing away.

Agreed, stupid place for them. :wonder:

Tweeters need to be directed at the ears for us to hear the sound correctly (perferably from infront of the person for stereo hifi!....bass can be "hidden" and is not so directional...so OEM positions are correct!!

P.S. spent too much time in HIFI stuff for my own good :giggle:

So where would you HIFI experts recommend putting an extra set of speakers using the rear tweeter wiring?
