The blaupunkts have tweeters in anyway.

In that case, do they have blanking plates for where the rear tweeters go so I can get rid of the mesh?

Probably not - but it's not as if they really spoil much being stock and just not wired up...

Very true. Just realised how truly annoying those rear tweeters are when answering phonecalls....never really noticed it with music before...prlly because I had an aftermarket HU with bass set all the way up? Guess I could've saved myself on those 3-way crimps...but oh well!

I think mine, which came as new with no rear speakers, has the same grilles for the tweeters - just without a tweeter in there.

My car came with the 8 speakers from the factory...when I fitted a top set of Pioneer 2-way(mid/bass with built in tweeter)(model now discontinued) speakers in the rear side decks (OEM position for rear mid/bass cone)..I just left the OEM Skoda rear tweeters (by chrome rear door open handle) fitted and wired......nice full sound stage in rear...and the front now has a proper "surround" effect B)

P.S. I do have a fancy headunit (Pioneer) that allows me to adjust midpoints, fequences, slopes, etc, etc..the only thing it doesn't do is "timing".

I think the answer here is that if you don't at least reduce the power going to the tweeters in the door they begin to sound AWFUL very very quickly. Especially when you crank the volume up to the rest of the system. Either that, or mine were very shot to start with... Which also seems entirely possible.

Either way - mine are now unwired and I left the blaupunkts to do the rest. I've got tweeters in all 4 corners so it's not a major deal breaker to me.
