Heated Mirrors

Featured Replies

I done a search and cant find what im looking for, my heated mirrors dont work when the knob is set to heater on the mirror controls. I have checked the fuse and its says in the manual its fuse 38 and its a 5 amp, when I checked it had a 10 amp so I changed it for a new 5 amp and still they dont seem to work. I am going to take the mirror off to check they are connected are they clipped in and need to be poppped off. The Skoda dealer has given me the price of £35 a mirror is there anywhere that sells them with the backing plate on cheaper. The mirrors adjust on the switch no problem, so it has to be the heated mirrors . Any advice would be great, I have a 51 plate 1.4 Elegance 16v

Had the same issue with my car, turned out to be the heating elements had burnt out. 2x new glasses sorted out the problem.

Having had the use of a friends Golf I would recommend getting the blue tinted ones from ebay (see item no 390277935375) not sure off the quality of these though.

The blue tint is great at night - no more being blinded with vehicles with headlights out of alignment.

another thing to make sure of is that a replacement mirror glass hasnt been stuck over the original mirror glass.

i wondered why my n/s mirror glass wasnt heating up and realised it was heating the broken one underneath lol.

The heating elements seem to burn out if they are always left in the on position, my vote is on the element rather than fuse/switch. The fix requires replacement of the mirror glass.

Mines on rarely anyway (as I don't tend to have drivers lingering around that area, much prefer them in my rear view :giggle: ) But on a serious note, I read somewhere that you can set a timer on the vagcom to switch it off after a certain amount of minutes. I didn't note down the codes sorry :(

Change value from 254 (infinite) to say 15. Which is just short of 10 minutesemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thanks for the reply's just to say that looking on ebay some say you need to cut the backing plate to fit, or no mention of the backing plate. I want to buy replacements that come complete just to connect and clip in so any suppliers details needed many thanks
