Hot Starting Problems

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have recently noticed a new problem when starting my car from hot. The car is a five and a half year old 2.0L TDI with 126,000 miles!!. My usual starting procedure is clutch depressed, turn key, wait for glow plugs to go out and start. When cold no problems unless really really cold - however when it is hot I start as per normal and it turns over for a few seconds then starts with a clunk.

However if I press the accelerator slightly it will start normally. It almost seems like a fuel problem. The car is going in for its seventh long life service on in a weeks time and hopefully the VAG independent will find the problem, but I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

TRW

Mine was cured with a new battery.

Anyone know why it is the battery that is causing the problem when hot? - or can anyone give me a link to a page?
