Dropping it down to 16" wheels, what's the optimum size these should be run on.

I would have thought 205/50/16 on the VW 6 1/2" steel rims, but doing tyre searches turns up hundreds of 205/55/16's some 205/50/16 and even less 205/45/16 to choose from ????????

I wouldn't bother with Winter tyres now, for all the good they'll do. And there is no snow forecast for the immediate future.

If I were you I'd wait till later in the year, when demand has completely gone down and they're no longer be a premium on them!

It is getting a little late BUT you will save on rubber...so swings and roundabouts

Correct size is 205 45 16 if youre coming down from 205 40 17

I thought the vRS calipers on the front meant only a 16" rim would fit over them ????

On the Mk1 Octavia, 15" wheels will fit over 288 mm disks which are fitted to PD130 cars. I think it's only the Mk1 Octavia vRS that has 312 mm disks, for which 16" wheels are needed. I thought none of the Fabias had 312 mm disks as standard.

The 2.0l petrol Mk1 Fabia has 288mm brakes and that comes with 15" wheels.

Now knowing the 15" will fit I could have bought something like these for winter ebay Item number: 300513347603 and stick all weather tyres on.

What I have lined up though is 16" MK4 golf steel wheels in BLACK, just need some tyres now
