Yeti park assist configuration

Featured Replies

Is it possible to configure the a UK version of a Skoda Yeti 2.0 TDi 4x4 140 bhp SE, fitted with a park assist, to change / alter the park assist sensor detector side, so as to be able to use the it when parking on the right side of the road, instead of the left side?

This is important to me, as I have just ordered the car listed above, and I have been told that it is possible to do so. Since I regularly drive on the continent as well as in the UK, I would like to be able to change the park assist detection side, before I set off on a journey.

Ideally if anyone knew of a way to do so with the maxidot computer that would be ideal. Alternatively, if anyone knew of instructions in the form of a PDF document, providing this level of instructions that I require, I would be most grateful.

I have been searching the internet for instructions on this but cannot find any. The best thing, I suppose would be to find out who is the manufacturer of the Skoda park assist equipment and ask them the question directly, but, even this information I cannot find.

Any information related to this query would be most appreciated.

This should not be a problem at all: The default search side is the right side on LHD cars, and I guess left side on RHD cars. To change the side it searches on, just move the indicator stalk on the steering coloumn to the side you would like to search for a vacant space.

On my Superb combi, to change parking from left to right just use the indicator switch. The basic set up for the UK on my vehicle is to park on the near side ( left ), to park on the offside ( right ) you just put your indicator switch in the right turn position the picture in the Maidot changes over. I should think it is the same in all models with park assist.

Yes, on the Yeti as above, no indicator for nearside parking, right indicator of offside parking (in the UK).

Hi Kerandran! Welcome to Briskodaemoticon-0148-yes.gif

I notice you have had a few problems posting on the site but that you are looking for information on the Yeti as you have already ordered one. Well a copy of the drivers manual would help you answer some of your questions, and here is where you will find an on-line version which you can save to your PC YETI MANUALS

You will also find the manuals for the radio etc all in PDF form.

Hope this helps and be assured, the Yeti is worth waiting for...............

THE GREAT YETI

If you don't use the indicator it will automatically search to the left (of a UK car) displaying the cars you drive by as a hatch area.

If you then use your indicators to indicate right, the hatched area in the Maxidot display swaps from the left of the car pictogram to the right so you can clearly see which side the car is searching for a parking space.

Also see attached part extract from the Owner's manual showing only the Park Assist.

Yep - like everyone says - left indicator makes it search left hand side, right indicator makes it search to the right. It works! Have a play in a quiet road.........

Thank you all for your replies and for the information provided.

I have come across this very same website a little over a week ago and have downloaded the user manual, including technical changes document and the car radio instructions. I am currently in the process of reading the owners’s manual from A to Z, and have printed it fully, as it is easier to read on paper than on a computer screen.

As you rightly pointed out, I have come across the line that states that one needs to indicate / signal that one wants to park on the right side of the street, for the park assist to function. However, this is very briefly mentioned.

I also would like to thank you for confirming that this actually works as this would have been my next question.

And on a related subject, does the park assist work in a narrow street? Our road is a narrow Victorian one, with parked cars each side and a narrow single lane in the middle. Normal length spaces can be difficult to get into because the narrow width limits the amount the front can swing out - you need a shallow angle of entry, so to speak. Does the sensor read both sides for obstacles as its reversing and adjust accordingly?

NO! It I'm not happy about it since I think it can be such an easy fix. It only measures the space and the other "eye" on the opposite side just does NOTHING. Grrr. Why can't that "eye" also measure how far cars are away on the opposite side to where you are parking to give the car a complete 3D picture of where it is?! I tried a narrow street once and nearly wiped my right front corner off!

And you've got to watch out for oncoming traffic; park assist will happily swing the front wing out into their way

Hehhe how quickly we get used ro this lovely feature and just want more, more! As the warnings say the driver is ways in total control so should use common sense. But I'd sure have enjoyed getting electronic help in narrow streets.

Cripes, that's good to know. Renders it pretty useless for me then, although the acoustic indicators will still help - I have the rear ones on my Golf and they're really useful.

Oh you will find a use for it believe me. It is really amazing and I use it all the time now and I'm in my 30s... You need not be old and half blind to use it. Living in London you need to parallel park everywhere and it gets the car into tiny, tiny spots (in fact spots that are only 500mm longer than the car). Just remember it does not get you out again! You will need to go back and forth yourself, but the sensors front and back are a god sent in that case.

Another toy to cause trouble. There will always be situations where the latest gizmo fails to do the job. This is why it is usually better to keep total control over what is happening. My park assist is pretty, totally competent but moans when sent out in the rain.:giggle:
