Harsh front end

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Tried searching but nothing seems to tally up with my problem..........

My car seems to be riding harshly over the bumps lately, started with a big thud on the front left hand side when i drove over an unavoidable drainage gulley in the local petrol station forecourt at a reasonable speed due to entering the petrol station.

Noticed a couple of more knocks from that area for about 2 days after but it was intermittent, it seems to have stopped and just feels harsh now both sides.

Checked dampers best i can with the 'push on the wing' test, will investigate further.

Checked the engine for rocking

Checked the wheel bolts are tight

Had a look at the springs see if they have snapped

Anybody got anymore ideas?

Could it be the ARB bushes, it hasnt thudded lately just seems to be really crashy.....

Any help is welcome as its starting to do ones heads in lol

Cheers

Daz

probably either the droplink, bottom ball joint or the console bush

Would that make it feel harsh then because when i bought it about 10 month ago it had to go back to the garage to have the D-BUSHES??? replaced as it was knocking constantly when pattering over the bumps.....

Dunno what the D-BUSH is but thats what the mechanic called it lol

Might sound like a ridiculous question people but how will i tell if any of the bushes are knackered without changing them? emoticon-0124-worried.gif

The original console bushes are semi-hollow, with a centre bit supported by rubber arms attached to the outer of the bush.

See:

for a pic.

On mine, the centre is visibly sagging, with the mini rubber support arms are a little drooped, and starting to crack.. :S
