Thanks - but all I want is a single litre - just for top ups if they become necessary. Why don't Skoda and the rest of the VW group use products available at most garages? I've now tried 5 garages without success...

Surely the question must be why dont garages stock oils that are used in VAG ingines?

Could be any number of reasons, cost is probably the biggest one.

Sorry - but the question has to be why does the VW group design cars which use such esoteric oils when you can use "normal" oils in almost every other car on the road.

It's like why can you change a light bulb in certain VW cars without taking it into the dealer to do.

It's like the fact that some models are fitted with tyres that can't be bought separately.

They're just being perverse in requiring unnecessary complication...
