Have I missed something? 1.9TD dropped

Featured Replies

So have I missed something.. the 1.9TDi has been dropped?

And been replaced with a 1.6TDi !!!

As i said in a previous post....i think the older greenline superb represents better value for money given the standard specifications compared to the new greenline 2.....basically the same model, maybe a bit more ecconomy and pay a fair bit more to get the same trim levels in the older greenline and not forgetting the vat increase......might just keep mine

You wouldn't want to Andy, my mate has an Octavia with that lump and all his drivers say how bad it is, are you the only Superb in Brighton right now, if so I think I saw you a few mths back when I had a job down there, it would've been around midnight iirc.

Re-mapping would surely improve the driveability, and may also improve the fuel economy if the driver excercises a light right foot. FWIW, my remapped Superb 1.9Tdi is averaging 52.5mpg, which is a modest 5.84% improvement over the published combined figure of 49.6 mpg. In addition, the car is far more pleasant to drive and now has adequate pace for most overtaking manoevres/swift motorway lane changes.

Pfft.........I can't imagine trundling around - 5 up - in a Superb with the 1.6TDI lump. I have loads of heavy gear in the back of mine and I have the CR170, anything less and I don't think i would be too impressed with the performance. I wouldn't be able to fend off all those basic A4s that infest the motorways :smirk:

Andy, I'm just outside Worthing so I'll give you a wave if I'm in your neck of the woods

Yes i agree wit the previous post...i found the car extremely easy to drive once you master the gearing ...and round town and going up some of the hills i just use 3rd gear...after all its how you drive the cars isnt it...and i would imagine some of the octavia's are pretty high mileage, and generally worn..and some are possbly clapped out.....maybe thats why the drivers say its bad....but i still think the superb greenline 1.9 tdi mk2 is better than the new one out with the 1.6 tdi engine.

I drive my Superb GreenLine 1.9 TDI more than 1 Year 20 000 Miles done and

Can not see any problems with that power delivery.

YES IT IS NOT FAST AS AUDI 140 TDI or CR

But my arguments about that:

1) I have DPF no problems with this - NEVER have any lights on the dash DPF regeneration (As I can see when DPF regenerating - change gear to Lower the MDF display show that)

2) My friend 2.0 TDI 170 hp DPF fail and after that fail engine (overheated + valves blow) repair cost up to 6000 Pounds practical new engine need

3) I can see on the forum when more hp engine have problems with DPF The reason is DPF can not work proper on these power outputs as driving style must be change when DPF in regeneration, but it is hard to do that as you know 170 hp and heavy foot no time for DPF regeneration

4) 77 kW- Maximum torque 250/1900 Nm per rpm for 1.9 TDI Compare to 1.8 TSI 118 kW - Maximum torque 250/1500 – 4500 Nm per rpm

5) So as you can see I have the same start power as TSI But not much acceleration.

6) So my arguments Does it 250Nm is low ? as 1.8 TSI have the same

7) OK lets take 2.0 TDI 140 Hp 320 Nm Compare to my 250 Nm = 70 Nm more so 20-30 % More from start Yes It better

8) But for me single driving all the time 250Nm is perfect option

9) If 5 People in the car and hills Where is the problem change gear to lower?

10) People please STOP say that someone have 170 hp engine just to overtake in country roads? I drive in these country roads and to overtake someone is possibility to crash 50% the car. As most roads not straight and to overtake on the corners NO THANKS want to live.

11) + If I overtake someone in country road so after 5 minutes of drive again other car which need to over take SO Basically I learn it is no point to overtake just relax nothing I can do.

12)

I Do not trying to say that my 1.9 TDI is more better in power output as CR or TSI or 170 hp No it is not

But I can say that:

1) I can get easy 60 mpg

2) My car does not cost much to buy new as CR 170 Hp

3) My insurance more cheaper compare to 170 Hp

4) The tyre usage is better than 170 Hp

5) Possibility less broken parts on lower power output than 170 hp

6) So can say les stress to clutch + gear box + brakes

IF MONEY IS NOT IMPORTANT BMW/ADUI I WANT TO BUY - NOT SKODA THAT I KNOW 100 %

IT is not that I do not like Skoda but Audi this car I prefer to have

SKODA to buy was chosen for VW parts + price + quality same to VW
