Poxy foglights

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Finally had time today to get the vRS foglights from Jorily fitted to my car. For reference, my car is a non-vRS Fabia with vRS bumpers fitted, and I tinted the foglights with yellow Lamin-X. And very nice it looks too, IMO. Had the bumper off in less then 10 mins, foglights lined up no problem, car back together quickly, great.

Except the plugs on the car are different to the sockets on the foglights :dull: The car end uses female 2-pin vertical prongs, whereas the car uses male horizontal 2-pin plugs. Is there an easy way to sort this (some sort of adaptor?), or will I have to get a new plug and have it wired up at the car end?

I now have pretty foglights, which don't actually switch on  Suppose I have to laugh...

Thanks,

Andrew

just cut the connectors off and use some bullet crimps :)

Sounds fairly simple, I take it you mean find a connector that mates to the fog, cut the connector off the car end and crimp that to the cable off the other one?

Can you tell I don't tinker with electrics much?

something like this. cut both plugs off either end and crimp these on... just like the back of a car cd player?

Not really sure I can do much at the foglight end, it's all bonded into the plastic housing :S I like the idea though, thanks. Will mention to my dad next time I speak to him, he used to be an electrician.

just use spade connectors then?

the foglights are the male side?

i bet spade connectors would plonk straight onto them?

FFS just buy a pair of plugs (car side) from Skoda, this way providing you fit them correctly you wont get future problems with water entering the connectors and giving you or the next owners grief.

The OE plugs will probable cost you a couple of quid and if they are like other OE plugs I have seen will have a waterproof seal on them.

That was my initial plan to get them priced up. Hope you're right

Cheers :) Yeah the foglights are the male side. A trip to Maplin is in order methinks if the Skoda item doesn't come separately.

Good job getting the bumper off and on again isn't difficult!
