VRs Fun on A4212 - best road in Ithe UK

Featured Replies

Drove to Wales at speed limit on cruise for economy. Hit the great roads in wales esp the A4212. Filled up in Porthmadog. Including some Llondon driving average of 36 mpg.

Also finally started gelling with the car. Worked out It needs to be driven hard to be fun.

Sadly its still not what i hoped for out of the car. The Mini Cooper we had was on its toes much earlier and fun at slower speeds. Guess thats an additional 200kg for you.

Now to try the evo triangle :-) and see if we can gell some more.

I know others love the VRS - I can see us keeping it to avoid deppreciation losses rather than because its a great car, It is well built and spacious 2 real plus points that decided in its favour and our plan is to keep it 10 years shame it needs great Welsh roads to feel good .

There was one sweeping lefthander around the lake - (travelling from Bala) where it was really great and felt alive. I trusted the car and it paid me back in spades. Thats why we bought it. Perhaps it needs pushing hard to truly flow and compress the suspension properly.

Help me love thiis car !!!!

Remap it and you'll be excreting into tissues for a long time to come.

Standard it's good, but to work properly some suspension changes need to be made really, especially for the type of roads and driving you describe. THEN remap it :)

Please allow me a little diversion down memory lane ... I have to agree about that stretch of road, that's a bend an a half. First drove it 1973, lost count of how many times I've driven it since then. Most enjoyed in a 1959 Austin A35 and a 1969 Bettle 1300!

Thanks very much for the pointers. I need a good unknown road to take my new motor for a blast. Sounds like I may have found it! I'm only an hour from

north Wales. :)

Drove the Evo triangle today - they are also great roads - with great sitelines.

It must be said -- Noth Wales has great roads that every Portmerion trip we will havwe to take advantage of.

Best roads in the UK that I have found so far !!!

The VRS needs to be driven hard to be fun and these roads are just superb. In fact contradicting myself the views are so gooid even stuck behind a well driven transit (he hardly touched the brakes) i did noyt need tyo overtake the views were so good!

im lucky in that I support a few sites based on the evo triangle run. Always a fun road plus the road from Denbigh to get to it :D

Just watch for scamera vans and unmarked, usually on the A5. Apart from that some decent progress can be made. Still probably prefer some of the routes north of the border, overall.

standard the vRS isnt all that in the handlingdepartment at all, its has to much roll especially for really hardcore thrashing. get some anti roll bars, whiteline anti lift kit, and some TT lower control arms and wave goodbye to understeer whilst not even effecting the ride quality.

if your happy to sacrifice some of the ride quality, then you could be smashing yourself around the bends all day long with a very big grin on your face
