Will my Nokia 7230 work in my 2010 vrs?

Featured Replies

Folks,

Just signed up this afternoon for a 2010 Octavia vRS and now a thread over on PH has got me worried. The car was 1st registered in June 2010 and it has bluetooth in it.

Will my Nokia 7230 slide work with the bluetooth module fitted in this car? When I had a test drive the dealer fidgeted about with some buttons on the steering wheel and the put it into device search mode - my phone came up on the maxidot display but the salesman didn't go any further than that.

The worrying thing is that the salesman told me the previous owner specced the car with bluetooth but ordered a brand-new one almost straight away as (I am told) he couldn't pair his particular phone with the stereo.

All advice greatly appreciated before I call the dealership in the morning and put the sale on hold!

Cheers

If your Nokia has RSAP it will work if the VRS has full factory fit GSM Bluetooth

Nokia invented RSAP (Remote Sim Access Profile) and most Nokia's have it

If the VRS has the kit it will have a box under the drivers seat and the aerial will have a 'shark fin' on the leading edge

IMO its brilliant, phone connects automatically as soon as I get in the car. You have the advantage of an external aerial and a higher powered transmitter

According to a Noka website the 7230 has SAP, doesn't say RSAP though. The car does have the wee sharks fin at the back of the aerial on the roof (I wondered what that was for!)

What phone do you have paired with your VRS powermalc?

Nokia 5800

As far as I know if it has Bluetooth V2.0 it has RSAP

When connected messages come up on the Maxidot display where you can view, delete or copy them to the phone.

Just going back to the shark fin aerial, this is also used as the sat nav aerial if the car has the Columbus. I presume your potential car has the Bolero

Yes the Bolero, not the Sat Nav unit.

Can it? I have just used the plug n play aerial and shoved it behind the glovebox! How do you utilize the bluetooth lead then?

Well in answer to my own question (incase anyone ever searches for it in the future) - my wife went to the dealers today on the way home from work with my phone, and it works fine.

i have 7230 paired to my Octy Elegance 2010 ( 2011 model year ) and it works great apart from the presets wont stay preset (same for all phones though...)

Thanks for that boilerman, can I still see my phonebook contacts on the Bolero display and touch-screen to phone the contact though?

It would be a great help to me if you (or anyone really!) could tell me exactly how I make calls through the Bolero.
