Curve Projector Lights

Featured Replies

Has anyone got these and are they good ? Waste of Money ? Work well.

If possible could someone give a decent description of them vs a conventional (non xenon) light please.

Lastly were they worth the £ 260 upgrade price ?

I have ordered these and not seen much at all mentioned about them in the last month.

Many thanks.

got any pictures of these lights

I specced them as I couldn't have the sunroof at the time so thought I would spend the money on those instead. They are a nice to have item but probably not worth the money unless you plan to drive in Europe a lot. The best way to describe the difference is that your lights are pointing in the direction your car will be facing before it finishes turning, so it is more efficient use of the headlight beam, if that makes sense. They may improve the visibility around corners but the problem is that you can't switch the function off to be able to see the difference. It is not a huge obvious improvement like going from halogens to xenons. I need to try driving down some winding country lanes before I pass final judgement but at the moment I would say they should be last on your options list.

I can't coment on there effectiveness but I can say why I added them on my fabia.

If you do lots of driving on twisty A and B roads you will find yourself staring round a corner unable to see anything as your headlights are currently pointing straight into the crash barrier. Which is fine when you know the road like the back of your hand. If however you tend to be a moterway or more standard A road driver you'll probably see little extra benifit.

Thanks Chaps.

Last question if I may, is it worth upgrading the H7 bulb to a philips extreme bulb - i have read that this bulb is a decent upgrade for the standard fabia light. I would take it that it should be the same for the curve projector ?

Cheers

Mine has projector lights. I put in Phillips Xtreme H7 bulbs. £20 off ebay. Highly recommend the upgrade. There is a very noticeable difference. I tried the Osram Nightbreakers which were ok but not even close to the Phillips. There are also Phillips xtreme 2 available. These are more expensive but to be honest the Xtreme are really good and a lot cheaper.

My projector lights dont turn with the car, just ordinary module projector lights. I do a lot of country lane driving and having lights turn the corner with you would be a real bonus !!

Hi mate, I'm seriously tempted to do this upgrade but not really sure how I go about doing it.

If you could, a quick guide to removal and refitting of bulbs on the new Fabia would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Having looked at those bulbs and what they offer I'm also very interested in this upgrade. Bulbs look quite cheap for what they offer and reviews look promising. Is it a simple job?

Same question, I may do the bulb upgrade then subject to it being a fairly simple proceedure.

Can any one put a guide on ?

Thanks.

Are you looking for a guide to changing the bulbs???

Answering for myself and others - yes.

Some cars I have owned have been a devil to change the bulbs and you need hands of little people.

Just wondered if the Fabia is hard or easy - so yes please a guide if you have one.

I've had a look in the manual and it recommends having a skoda garage look at it/do the job. Looks relatively simple though.

H4 = Halogen Headlights

H7 = Halogen Projector Headlights

I presume for people who don't have the cornering headlights, it is H4.

I think only the poverty-spec fabia 'S' has ordinary halogen headlights (H4). Headlights on all other fabias are 'projector' including the vRS. The only difference between the standard 'projector' headlights and the 'curve projector' is the ability to slightly swivel to illuminate a corner better.

I have no idea if the curve projector lights are the same. If they are like mine you pull off the rubber cap on the back of the light. Grab the connector for the bulb and turn it anticlockwise (bayonet fitting). This removes the bulb still attached to the connector. Pull the two apart (might need a flat screwdriver to initially pry them apart). Connect the new bulb and pop it back in turning it clockwise to latch it in. Put the rubber cap back on. I did mine in 5 mins.

Just remember to NOT touch the bulb glass with bare hands. It leaves a grease mark that causes a hot spot leading to premature bulb failure

I made that sound complicated but its very easy. The access is a bit fiddly, smaller your hands the better. I have large hands and still managed ok

Brilliant!

Thank you very much, I've been waiting for someone to explain this for ages!

Thanks again.

Thanks raisbeck.

Appreciated

Okay so I just took a look at the VRS headlights.

The dipped beam is done on a projector, and the main beam is done where the sidelights usually are on a separate bulb all together.

This means 4 bulbs would need replacing, surely?

I was thinking of going for Curve Projector Lights, but I think they would drive me round the bend.

4 Bulbs indeed. I have an elegance and upgraded all 4 bulbs. A worthwhile exercise though.

Thinking about buying bulbs while I wait for my new car.. :) (fabia active combi 1.2 tsi DSG).

What bulbs did u upgrade to? 2x Philips X-Treme Power H7 and 2x Philips X-Treme Power H4?

They are 4 H7s, only the Fabia S uses H4s. I ended up buying 2x Philips X-treme and 2x Osram Nightbreaker (just how it worked out finding the cheapest deals at the time). The Osrams are slightly whiter so I put them in the projectors and the philips are meant to give a better beam pattern/spread according to the write ups so I put them in the high beam (the jury is out on that one but the light is brighter and more penetrating than stock bulbs).

Can you actually notice the difference? I'm tempted to do it if it gives me say 10-20m more light and better spread when driving home at night? Anyone who has these or the Nightbreaker's and can give their opinion would be appreciated. 4 bulbs is £80 so not an investment I want to make if there naff

If your paying £80 someones taking the **** with their prices. The bulbs come in two packs which should be price in the £25-30 a pack with free shipping price band.
