dump Valve for mk1 vrs

Recommended Posts

hi there, thinking of changing my standard DV for either a forge split r or a 007... any ideas?!

iv heard the split r takes a bit of setting up, where as the 007 is just a straight swap with no setting up?!

any advice would be welcome!! cheers

007 goes straight on i believe split r can be modified for 'blow off' so it sounds like a 'proper' dump valve the vrs uses a recirc valve not a dump valve also think it can be adjusted so you get it just right for your boost pressure however unless your car is remapped I would save your money as the oe one works fine and is designed for the standard boost although if it breaks you might want to consider an ebay copy of the 007 as I believe they are cheap as chips and the oe is prone to fail as its made of plastic not metal

i've had both and prefer the 007 all day long...........but i'm now running a compbrake one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-TT-S3-Golf-Seat-Leon-Recirculating-Dump-Valve-/270683282479?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f05fb1c2f and find it no different to the forge and its half the price

The comp brake one is a copy of the 007P one from Forge

There are differnces , so is it better to go for the Forge one??????

Awesome do the forge 007P quite cheap

So may be worth going for the origional one that everyone has copied , but a tad cheaper

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=13863

try that one

The best will always be the best , but copies will always follow ;)

If the forge was more affordable I would have gone for that but the compbrake being half the price it was more appealing and having run both I've not noticed a difference tbh.

If it does go I'll probably buy another and it'll still work out as much as the forge one give or take a few quid :giggle:

Not saying its as good as the forge one with them being the manufacturer and having the back up etc, but I will say it's excellent value for money compared to the 007p!

Copies must be good to make a manufacturer ban suppliers from advertising a rival product though lol

No , not totally true , sorry

It is to do with warranty issues

The Forge one is guarantee`d for life

The greased used on the inside of the valve is megga expensive

But is there on the origional one for a reason

the differences on the grease is stupidly expensive , but necissary on these valves ;)

Speaking to a VAG specialist, He told me the following:

Forge despite what they may tell you import the valves from china/ wherever then stamp there own logo on them and charge you an extra £50 for it.

I can't comment about the grease!

Just bought mine from eliteremaps on eBay, £35 free p&p. cheapest forge item i could find was £80.

Its in the post! will let you know when it's fitted what its like, but my standard plastic is leaking boost

Bailey DV 30 does not need servicing every 10K, I ran mine for years without ever taking the top off or worrying about grease inside the DV, also the spring inside was more than adequate for my mapped and modded Mk1 Octy vRS.

I was talking about the forge one maybe I will swap it for a bailey come servicing time

I bought a 007P over 3 years ago now. I've serviced it a couple of times in that period, so none of the original grease exists, instead replaced with Castrol LM grease. I've since bought a new top from Forge for the 007P, to turn it into a 007PA (so it actually fits under the engine cover). I have also bought the valve spring tuning kit, since I am now running enough boost to require the yellow spring.

The valve is expensive, but I've never had any problems with it and it's a nice bit of kit. I know a diaphragm type wastegate actuator typically only costs about £2 to a turbo manufacturer, so these probably only cost Forge £5-10 to buy. But that's the same sad story with everything you buy in life.....

About the grease. Forge only quote "lubricate the piston and “O” rings with a high temperature grease such as Mobil 1" so nothing about premium greases there. This suggests that any high temperature general purpose grease can be used. The original grease found in the valve was red in colour. If we are supposed to be using some special grease, I'd like to know what it is so I can switch to it actually. The grease shown in a sachet in their picture of the valve service kit is also red, but again no details.

I'm happy with the Forge valve as it's never let me down, and I know I can very easily buy any spares for it. But I agree it is expensive for what it is.

Ive just been running the normal one under the engine cover the crappy oem hose is suffering and thinking of replacing it with a silicone but not got round to it is it really an issue that it touches the cover? I dont think its putting any pressure on it just causing heat to build up

I had the same problem. As a temporary measure you can put some zipties around the vac hose where it rubs the cover, so it wears on the plastic zipties rather than the rubber hose. If you replace the OE hose with some silicone vac hose, the cover won't fit, as the hose isn't shaped like the OE one. That's what I eventually did, and had to run no cover. In order to get the cover back on I bought the 007PA top from Forge and fitted it. Allowing everything to fit perfectly again:

what a PITA! I asked Forge and they said silicone would solve it probably trying to sell me one of their shiny carbon fibre engine covers...

So the one to get is the 007PA but its 120 quid! Forge dont sell it seperately anymore? I assume the bailey will have the same issue as the vac hose runs of the top dont really want to cut holes in the cover or put the valve on the wrong way round as has been suggested in the past either.

I got a 007 given as my mate went to a split r valve on his mk4 then decided he'd rather have the 007 as it was easier to use and fit lol but its all mine now just ordered forge service kit for it i like it

I bought the 007PA cap piece in November, so they are still available separately. This was my response from Forge:

"The FMCL007PA top can be bought for £20.00 + £3.50 carriage + VAT at a total delivered price of £27.61.

Please call me on 01452 380999 to place the order."

So no need to buy the complete new 007PA valve, you can just get the bits you need (which is the good thing about Forge).

Mines has the pipe out the top and doesn't catch anything and cover is stock

It doesn't catch on anything really, and the cover does fit on with everything standard apart from a 007P valve fitted. But, the standard vac hose that goes onto the top of the Forge DV rubs on the standard engine cover. You can feel it if you lift up that corner of the cover when it's on, and let it drop. The worry is that it will slowly rub through the hose and cause the DV not to work. If you pop off the engine cover you should be able to see if it's been rubbing.

If it's not rubbing you may just be lucky. Or it might not rub with a modified or aftermarket turbo intake hose.
