The wife came home in the car tonight and told me that this light has been on all day on the dash

Trouble is i've left the handbook at work so i cant look up what it means?

Does anyone know? My engine's not about to blow is it??!!

Thanks, Lee

Edit. Sorry having trouble uploading the photo! How do you do it?

You photo needs to be hosted somewhere like Photobucket and then copy the IMG line into your post.

Woohoo, sussed it!!

In the meantime, can you describe the symbol?

Isn't that the bulb blown symbol? Can be any of them just have to look.

Popped external bulb, brake light is the most likely culprit.

What he said :giggle:

EDIT: could be a sidelight now i think about it.

Thanks guys, panic over!

It was a rear brake light. Bulb replaced, light gone out.

I'm quite impressed that it lets you know when a bulb has blown, my golf never did that, that's why i was a bit confused when the light came on.

If you had a multidot display it would also tell you exactly which one had blown...

I really wish a bulb failure system was an EU requirement on ALL new cars. The amount of cars driving round with popped bulbs is a joke. The worst cars are the ones with a blown headlight AND sidelight making it look like a motorbike

+1 It's a feature I'll want on my next car

Or those with BOTH rear stop lights blown and only the high level one working...

Mine came on for a failed number plate bulb. Impressed.

if you checked your vehicle before you drove you would not need warning lights ! All professional  drivers know this! on-board computers  make for lazy and bad drivers
