pickup panels

Featured Replies

hi all , ive just bought a 1997 truck & want to replace the front end and doors from a 2000 model with the bigger grill, will it be a bolt on fit, are the slam panels the same, thanks

yep bolt on job

the lock carrier is slightly diiffernt, and the wings aren't the same, but it will all bolt on if you get ALL the parts including the bonnet.. it's an absolute pig to get the wings off because they are bonded on as well as bolted, so you are likely to bust them getting them from a scrapper. new ones are about £30 each

a lot of the other body panels are nolonger available new, like the side panels and sills

The doors should be identical. As for the front end, the external bits you need will be bonnet (with grille and lock), headlights, headlight trims and bumper. Underneath, the lock striker plate, bonnet prop and possibly release cable are also different - you'll need to modify the slam panel to fit the new lock too (easier than swapping the whole front panel over).

edit: are you sure about the wings Tom? The only difference I'm aware of is for the very early 1995 models before the reinforced-body modifications - I know the some of the pattern ones are listed separately for pre- and post-'98 cars, but Skoda only list RB and non-RB

the one in my yard has the same wings as all the others?

i have all the parts in my yard of you're wanting them

the pre-facelift ones have an extra tab on them under the indicator unit to retain the ends of the grille panel, but i guess you don't need this tab tbh if you are swapping it all out

I have a feeling that's still there on post-facelift cars - IIRC the headlight trims have a bit on the end that uses them as locating holes.

well, i've just bought 2 new wings from mine because it's in the paint shop, and they were deffo listed as diifferent parts post and pre facelift

looks a lot like the pre-facelift grille retaining tab shown in the Haynes manual to me ;)

And here's the difference between the slam panels:

shown in the Haynes manual to me ;)

Funny, for me those same part numbers are listed as non-RB/RB rather than pre/post FL. Plus the 6U0 ones are the only parts listed for the Caddy which isn't FL, but also wasn't made in non-RB form.

As for Haynes, I was only referring to the photos of a pre-FL grille, not their lies (which the bodywork chapter is indeed full of) - is that little square with the captive nut on my car not the the equivalent of the end of your grille, then?

Windscreens, yes, they're all the same regardless of year.

Hmmm! Useful tread, I am just about to facelift RatSkoda using the front from my dead Felly hatch... was going to use bonnet pins but now may look at moding slam panel or jsu wholesale replacement of everything...

mcapachey, I have the same problem with my 2000 pickup. The passenger side rear shock has broken completely away from the mount. Please let me know if you found any answers. I have priced them at the dealer but you have to buy the entire "side panel inner" for each side of the truck bed which is expensive. If anyone knows any way to repair this please let me know.

I would also be interested in the rear suspension turret mounts, as mine are on the way out
