Getting 33 mpg on short trips and 40+ on longer journeys. Just done a 120 mile round trip today and trip computer said 43 mpg which is very accurate as I've checked it a couple of times. Car has only done 1000 miles so is still tight so will get better.

I'm getting between 38 and 42mpg on average depending on short/long journeys. That's using shell V-power and with only 490 miles on the clock.

Hi Pete. This is only my view but I would say it depends what you're after. If you want smooth with better performance then Tsi. If you are happy with your little 3 pot ( as I am) and love the sound of its little engine (as I do) and want the cheapest running petrol Skoda, then the HTP 70 is a cracker. No cambelt to change, no turbo to worry about, just trouble free motoring  According to the book figures the Tsi is cheaper on fuel that the HTP but on reading some of the ACTUAL figures given on here, there appears to be little difference.

I think my fuel economy is starting to improve now just over 3300 miles on clock consistently above 40mpg with 50mpg on a run averaged 45.7 brim to brim on last tank with overall average of 42mpg over 13 tanks run on V-power. So currently doing about 3 mpg less than my 1.2 12v fabia managed over 40,000 miles with average economy of 45mpg. As I say it is seeming to go up a lot so hopefully as it continues to run in both the engine and DSG should see higher figures maybe ever 50mpg average :). Not sure how to do it on here but have got a spread sheet with fuel economy brim to brim for both this fabia and the old one.

Hi Pete

I've only run the Fabia on 98 RON since that is what has been advised by Skoda. BUT.. we run the Yeti 1.2 TSI on normal unleaded and it appears to be fine (~1100 miles on the clock). I would say that the power delivery on the Fabia has been much smoother compared to the Yeti at the same mileage - it had a definite surge/kick in 2nd at 2000 rpm! This is easing somewhat but I still notice a difference when I swap.
