It's just that there are now an increasing number of people interested purely in altering the mapping for economy purposes. Which is completely understandable given the current fuel prices!

As for a 'normal' remap, I'd expect a slight increase in economy on a run, say decent motorway slog at constant speed, or fast A-road/dual carriageway. But anything you do manage is a bonus against the extra performance really :yes:

My 2006 2.0tfsi gets 34mpg when I'm driving very carefully on my commute, otherwise it's an average of 30.5mpg over the last 200 miles or so.

Definitely. I also have my VRS mapped (by Ben @ Shark) and it was the best money i've spent on any car in years.

Didn't notice MPG before the map, don't notice it now. When the petrol light comes on the tank gets filled up - thats how much I pay attention to MPG!

If i've been driving the car in a spirited fashion quite a bit in any particular month then I just need to do without a takeaway or two that month :D
