Supposedly arriving tomorrow

Featured Replies

It's to be PDI'd and they've to register my private plate on it so I reckon it'll be next week before I pick it up.

I already want the dealership to set up auto locking and unlocking of doors, tailgate etc but what else is there that can be set up before I drive it away?

I've read that there's no real running in period anymore and even that the diesels want a bit of a thrash is this correct?

Get them to enable the alarm chirp sound (blips when u arm it)

I bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel of the new vRS! It was definitely worth the wait for me, however just waiting for it to come back repaired after a slight dink on the front end after two months!! :'(

If it's got Xenons i'd say make sure that they configure the bendy lights and also the corning fogs! They were never configured on mine and i wish they had been!

As for running in, although they say they don't have a running in period and that the engines are bench tested before being fitted it is wise to remember that the other components of the car don't get such a luxury. I drove mine normally for the first 600 miles or so and then gradually upped the revs and gave it a few full throttle runs after that. Performance has definitely improved aswell as the economy. Don't drive like a granny but also don't drive everywhere in sport mode!

Just make sure the oil temp is up above 70 (you can see this on the maxidot) and then go enjoy the car :p

Look forward to seeing the pics when you get it!

If you've got the Maxidot you can set up the doors and the locking in that. I'd go for the cornering fogs though - not had that on mine and I'm thinking of taking it to the local dealer (my dealer is 70miles away) to get that coded.

Cheers chaps so that's auto lock / unlock, alarm chirp, yes it does have xenons but I was unaware that Xenons needed setting up, cornering fogs? Do these come with Xenons 'cos I didn't spec them?

Anything else from anyone

Sorry to hear about the ding crazyfool46 and strangely enough I don't do really do excitement although on the night before collection I'll probably be sick, go without sleep and wish I'd never given up smoking

One more thing, I'm probably going to do around 10,000 miles a year, and before anyone says I'd have been better off with the petrol I much prefer the drive of the diesel so that's what went for. Would I be better with fixed servicing or variable?
