polishing ko3 inlet manifold

Featured Replies

hi guys, does anyone have any good tips for inlet manifold polishing.been at it for a few hours now and only just getting the furryness off the surface.i dont know if i can get it bead blasted with a fine sand or maybe get it acid dipped or summat. i'm using a drill with a waffle (sandpaper) wheel at the moment.it will do the job,i just want to speed it up a bit. also i'm not sure if its worth doing the underside of the mani, its quite intricate under there.if anyone wants to add a pic of there polished manifold to keep me motivated i'de really appreciate it cheers.

sounds like a lot of work, looked into the JBS manis?

Powder coat it - no more need to polish it then lol

theres a place near oxford that will do the inlet mani and cam cover for £80,so that may be the way to go if i cant make decent headway.

Ouch! I think I paid £30 last time I got something powder coated (cam cover).

I have done a few of these.

I started with a drill and a flat wire brush wheel bit in the end of the drill and used a sideways firm motion to remove the rough effect. When that was removed i then set about with very coarse sandpaper moving to medium and fine and then very fine, and lastly some alloy polish like autosol or similar. It is still a lengthy job, took me over 3 hours.

I focused on the top and the main tubes, not underneath

It takes time but worth the job in the end , and is easy to maintain. I just re polish it every few months.
