Detailing Spray

Featured Replies

Folks,

I'm new to this concept of Detailing but it's something I'm trying to get into.

I've adopted the two bucket method, using Megs Gold Class Shampoo and a Lambswool Mitt. I've swapped my Chammy to a pair of Sonus Der Wunder towels. All this for my new Octy vRS and to try to minimise the swirls.

I'm going to have a pro detailing job done for a new car prep (car already booked in) but after I'm going to look after it myself as much as I can. I'm having the final coating of Opti-Seal rather than a traditional wax.

I've heard people refer to Detailing Spray to assist with drying the car. What are they referring to and how does it work - what method needs to be employed?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Rich

I was under the impression that products like Meguiars Last Touch was a bit OTT and not really needed - that was until I saw Baker21 use it last weekend on my car, it enhanced the paintwork's ability to bead the water off whilst also giving it an addition protection.

I am now sold on the idea and have invested in some.

I use last touch while towelling and it makes it sooo much easier.

Welcome to the world of detailing and I hope you will enjoy and be happy with your new motor............

I am sure that who ever details your motor will give you some advice on how to look after the paintwork once it's been treated but as has been stated in the replies above, something like Megs Last Touch is a good bulk product that will work for you.

It has many uses both externally and internally on the car and is dilluted 1:1, you simply apply all over the car once it's wet and it will disperse and act as a drying aid to help you dry the car quickly and leave a 'Last Touch' finish, it can be purchased from many places, here is one source:

Once you have something on the car as Opti-seal then I would suggest investing in another 'Spray Sealant' to top up the protection that is on there after each wash, not 100% necessary but for me it's a must..........

i have the Meg's detailing spray that came int eh clay bar kit, whats the difference between this and Meg's last touch?

I am not too sure on the chemical make up of the Detailing Spray your referring too with comparison to the Megs Last Touch, what I can say is that buying in bulk with the Megs Last Touch works out much cheaper..........

All you do is spritz one trigger per panel on average and wipe in like you would if you were dusting in the house for example, nice and simple.

yes, still confused.

the links say a 'QD' can be a top up, it can give the effect of just waxed, it can shine, it can help dry the car quicker. i stil don't know if i can use qucik detailer on a clean car that's just been wash (but wet, just washed and dried, or a dirty car.

You can use it on a dirty car if you wanted too but for me this will for sure induce some scratching of the lacquer, best to rinse and wash the car then dry it and apply the Detailer Spray.............all depends how anal you are about swirls and scratches..........

i don't want a single swirl or scratch on my pride and joy.
