strange vibration

Featured Replies

on motorway at 70ish i get a sort of buzz through the steering wheel, and on lower spped roads i notice it when i push the revs to about 3000 and can on occasions be felt through the pedals and bodyshell

it feels like engine vibration, i have no nasty noises from any bearings etc.

it started about 2-3 months ago and is slowly getting worse (over about the last 10k)

my first thoughts are an engine mount etc gone foo bar

also get a heavyish knock on occasions from passenger side on uneven roads / speed humps etc. it is not reproducable enough to locate the exact location (sometimes seems front, other times from rear ??? )

anyone got any ideas where to start the hunt when i get the car off the road sometime this week (hopefully)

remember my car is high milage 139k miles on a 07 1.9tdi roomster 2, so would not be surprised about a little wear and tear,

just want to find this little blighter as it is really annoying

For the vibration, check the wheel balancing first, you may have lost a wheel weight.

the vibration is like a buzzing through the steering wheel, not the lower frequency of a wheel balance issue

i hope to get the car off the road and have a good look, i suspect the gearbox mount as thinking back i hit a fairly large pothole with the passenger side about the time it started

is that the big console bushes at the back of the lower arm? as mine are on there way out i think the way the car is wandering on uneven surfaces
