Citroen DS3R

Featured Replies

And there's me thinking that hot hatches were supposed to be cheap! £24k for a Citroen is bonkers! You can buy a Golf GTI for that money or even an Octy vRS to save even more!

Price aside, I'd rather one to any of the VAG offerings any day. . .

The interior is lovely too. :)

It isn't that bad. A loaf of bread will cost £24,000 this time next year emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

A (working) kidney will get you a full litre of fuel for your car as well.

'Slightly'' better looking though, <cough>....IMO.

Hat coat door run. :D

Under a motorway..........!!!!

Remember?!

Lol

I'm sorry to say but £24000 for what is nothing more than a french city car is a stupid price!

I'm sure its good but even if I was in the market for a little hot hatch my money would not go on the DS3R. My reasons are there is plenty of other cars out there like the polo, fabia, ibiza, clio and corsa that cost alot less and for the differences in what they car do I'd rather save say on the fabia £10k and put it towards a trackday car or something else.

Sorry nice looking but not for me

£24000 for a french car :o tbh id rather keep my mk1 vrs and get it up to 200bhp and will probably be as quick and get better fuel economy plus wont be as unreliable like something thats french rather keep the skoda

The RenaultSport Clio has kicked hot hatch ass for a number of years now, and rightly so because of the sublime pin sharp handling. The DS3R is being tipped as just as good if not better than the Clio handling wise.

You can't really compare a warm hatch like the new Fab vRS with it's temperamental DSG box against the French machines. The VAG offerings are probably the better option for a comfortable every day car, but as a small fast car, the Clio and DS3R would murder the new vRS every day of the week.

The original fab vRS would need a few grands worth of modifications to keep up.

Plus the new fabia is extraordinary ugly!!

We're going to end up under the motorway together here Taff, saying (true) stuff like that. :D

Can't believe no one has kicked off at us yet.

I like that DS3R., but there again, I like Citroens as well as my Skoda. That's why I've got one of each.

The wifes Hyundai is rapidly growing in my affections dept. as a good sturdy reliable car now too.

Also, the review in the new Top Gear mag isn't too complimentary about the vRS either. They said the original Fabia was a Skoda in spirit, but the new one is just a Polo for people trying to be diffferent. Shame really, as the advert promises so much.

On another note, a colleague has the DS3. I've had a good nosey round and it's quite nice, but not that nice. They've got the big alloys, pale blue roof, white bodywork and the interior is as bling as you like. Also, the DRLs are an add on too far. I'm a big fan of small fast French hatches - apart from the Saxo - and still hanker after a 106 Rallye or 205 GTi 1.9. But parked next to the Octavia, the DS3 is not small at all and seems very tall in comparison.

By selling the car for such money, it'll be remembered as an overpriced oddity. If they'd sold it for cost or at a loss, it might have gone down in the history books as a performance bargain and everyone loves one of those. Mk1 Octavia vRS anyone? B)

Trouble is, most manufacturers seem to be playing it far too safe now,

Take the new micra for instance....if you must, the new Focus, the new Passat, virtually the entire current Skoda range. All bland and dull as ditch water.

Some say it's just because "we don't like change"

Well I do if I can see they've made an effort to be adventurous, like Citroen have done, and as for that new Peugeot tRCZ, WOW!

Even the new 508 is an improvement over that old ugly gawpy thing that it replaces.

So, come on Skoda. Get redesigning your cars and give us something to admire again ey?

Agreed, Peugeot has REALLY come on last year.

The RCZ is miles better than the Audi TT it set out to emulate.

The new 508 really is worth looking at now as a replacement for a vRS octy, especially in GT guise.

I don't know if I'm ready to out myself yet but... Here goes..... I am seriously looking at a Hyundai Santa Fe premium or a KIA Sorento KX3 as next car..... There I've said it!

P.S I like the DS3R, apart from the DRLs which just look wrong!

I like em on all cars apart from this...... They look totally out of place.

Don't actually like ANY of these new 'designer' DRL's tbh, especially the led ones. Don't get me going on after market ones on old VW's etc either!

As for the Sant Fe. Spot on if that's the market you are looking at.

I was working on one last week. Very nicely screwed together it seems.

I like the looks of that ix35 too.

Hyundai seem to be fairly well tuned in to decent design at the moment. Pleasing on the eye.

After Market DRLs.. GGRRRRR, especially ones that haven't been put on straight!!

Nearly as bad as front fog light users, in the daytime!

I know in some cars the front fogs act as an indicator, which in my eyes is just stupid.

Indicators for indicating, fog lights for fog!!!

Rant over.

Sorry went off topic slightly!

£24000 for DS3R is nothing compared to what you can pay for a same spec Cooper S.

True. I've seen some Mini's on Autotrader going for £30k +

I know of one rich daddies boy, who purchased a Mini Onefor his 18th birthday, and had it made to look like a Mini GP Works, inside and out.

Left the engine as standard becuase of age related insurance issues.

Cost of standard car was about £12k. This spiralled up to £30k with all of the BMW approved parts fitted.

Unbelievable, but it did look ok if that's what floats yer boat/

Would you though?

Of course not.

Staggering stuff.

What a disappointment, all that show and no go.

Just wrong!!!

Precisely. I've seen it being 'ragged ' around, obviously trying his hardest to make it look as though it's travelling like a GP. :D

A Mini One for £30K.

Couldn't make it up ey?

They have all been sold anyway(Racing) , some people are prejudiced against it because it is French made, come on that is the sort of comment you get from BMW drivers when they know you are driving a Skoda, we had to wait six months for ours( they are built to order ) and the build quality is A1 Cost £15500 ,when a friend specced up the Fab VRS and spent £17885! I think the DRls are cool too.
