Hot water inside coolant reservoir after several hours

Featured Replies

How long the hot water remain hot inside the radiator after I have turn off the engine?

I ask this because I recently took the car to the Skoda dealer in order that they repair a coolant leak. They fix the coolant leak by changing a (Coolant Flange 4 Outlet including Sensor Hole) Part No. 06A-121-132-AP --- This is a black plastic part where the green coolant temperature sensor goes and some water hoses goes atached to this part. They also intall a new coolant green sensor.

I pick up the car from the Skoda and drive it to my house, the coolant temperature was in the middle as always. I arrive at my house at 2 pm, I open the bonnet and take notice that they have overfill the coolant reservoir, so at night, about 8 pm, I went to my car with a big syringe to take out some coolant in orderr to leave it within the limits. I open the blue cap from the coolant and for my surprise, the water inside was still hot, not so hot that I cant touch it but it was still hot.

So, I start the engine and notice that the temperature was a little less than 1/4 and practically after use the car a little time, the neddle goest to the middle as always. What I mean from 2pm to 8pm and the water still hot! I really dont undertand how the water is still hot inside coolant reservoir after several hours of not using the car.

Usually when I use my car and leave my house, it take a timefor the temperature neddle to rise to the midle but now it rise faster.

How long the hot water remain hot inside the radiator after I have turn off the engine? Do I need to check something in my car o I am paranoic and this is normal.

THX,

Isaac

Sounds normal to me!

just my opinion but maybe you're worrying over nothing?

The engine would be hot, the bonnet closed etc, so no wonder it's still hot after 6 hours, bit like a hot water bottle would be if well insulated.

As for them over filling it, have you checked it's level when cold, for example the next morning? You can't get an accurate idea if it's just been switched off as it hasn't settled/cooled

It sounds normal - especially as the weather rarely drops below 70 at the time of year in Panama.

Whats the daytime temperature? 90+?
