WOT no vRS LED DRLs ?

Featured Replies

Picked up my new vRS yesterday and checked it over with the salesman. I mentioned that the LEDs for the Daylight Running Lights were not illuminated.

"Oh!" came the reply, "they'll go on when the main lights are on".

I explained that there is a switch behind a panel low down on the right of the driver.

"We'll take it round to the workshop, they'll sort it out".

The mechanic quickly whipped off the cover and showed us the DRL light switch which he selected. When the engine was started the LEDs came on at full brightness.

"Now, when I turn on the lights the LEDs will dim and become normal side lights".

As the lights came on so the LEDs dimmed.

Do salesmen really know their cars? Should I have been asked if I wanted the lights switched on? Do the customers know more than the sales staff?

I must thank the contributors to this splendid Forum otherwise I might never have known about the Daylight Running Lights on this delightful car.

In my experience, most enthusiasts will probably know more about the car than the salemen.

Thanks to all

The panel is approximately 15" long and 5" high (with curve towards bottom.)

On the bottom right of the dash near the door is a cubby hole (for small change?), feel just below with your fingers and you will locate a cut-out. This is the area where you gently pull off the panel.

Better still, make sure your dealer does it all for you. (You can watch!)

Thanks for that, will Investigate Tomorrow. If I manage to stop driving it long enough

I wonder if they fiddle with everything when doing the PDI.

When I got my Fabia the passenger airbag had been switched off already. I had to open the passenger door and use the key to switch it back on.

Be sure to mention that if you get a customer service call. It really upsets me that when people are so bad at their jobs.

They are switched off from factory so no one had switched it on.

Suspect it's down to upcoming EU directive as mentioned in another post I can't find now :giggle:

Just to share a similar experience.. My local dealership told me the tinted glass behind the B pillar was an additional extra and that white paint was a metallic colour. "Red is the only non-metallic." We were even quoted for the white 'metallic' car. Funnily enough we ended up ordering off the internet.. My new dealer seems very clued up though, even if he does think we're a little insane for asking for a white metallic vRS :)
