refurbing spiders

Featured Replies

in a bit of a dilemma. wheels badly need refurbing and all four tires need replacing

the original plan was to get them powder coated black. but with the high chance of me selling the car in april time would black be a wise choice?

what i really want to know is what is the best colour thus not to affect re-sale value. would i be better selling the wheels seperately or with the car?

I reckon selling them seperatly. I think they tend to fetch £300 - £500 (could be wrong!). If it were me, I'd look into their current value, the cost of the refurb, and the cost after the refurb, and see which works out to get you the most return.

Doubt they'd add much value to the car either (plus a standard car may appeal to more people than a modified one).

I'd guess silver/grey/standard would let them appeal to more people - colours are more of a personal taste thing, and depend on the colour of the car to an extent.

+1 on everything here. Although wont fetch that if they are bad and need a refurb!

No, sorry - meant that kinda price for decent ones. Vaugely remember seeing some for ~£150 in need of work, but not 100% on that.

the alloys are bubbling around valve stems and have scratches on all four.

i will defo be getting them refurbed before i sell and they will be fitted with 4 205/40/17 toyo t1-r's

ive made my mind up that i will be selling them seperate to the car now thanks to above posts would like some advice as to what colour people would get them powder coated in. like i say was going to go gloss black but would this colour appeal to many people when its time to sell?

Id say standard silver to be honest. May attract more people. Sell without the dodgy tyres also...Means people can put their own on them!

Sorry just seen you said youd put new tyres on. Nice, someone will get a good deal :)

Don't get them refurbished. All it does is push the price up and the next buyer can't choose the colour they want. You'll never get your money back from the refurb and you'll have to be super-careful with them if they are to remain 'perfect' whereas if they need a refurb it doesn't matter if they get a bit more scratched in transit.

I'll happily pay £200 for a decent set unrefurbished if you're serious about selling them. We'd need to negotiate on the tyres though.

You may get more buyers for the car with standard wheels since no insurance hike...
