Why do we mess?

Featured Replies

Just been reading the forums, whilst being bored at work, and wondering - Why do we mess?

I've read prime examples of people spending money on mods and stuff which make absolutely no difference. I'm guily of this too, after having spend too much money replacing parts which do their job perfectly. The americans are the worst, e.g. replacing fuel filters on stock cars for "high-flow" ones, which make bugger all difference.

It's even worse when you try to mod something or tweak something and end up breaking it.

Just my thought of the day..!

its called future proofing lol

better than spending money on drink and drugs

i know and whats worse than that is you then decide you want it standard again and have to spend more money getting it back standard

If the mods are done sensibly then it's not money wasted.

The mods I have done have only made the car feel/sound/look better (I hope)

To some a car is a tool to get from A to B, for me it is a way of getting from A to B with a grin :D

My thoughts exactly

Errm probably not the best example

Generally I pick 1 colour and run with it but each to their own.

I had a mate who painted most of the dash in his sapphire cossie rep fluorescent green and shag piled the roof lining :giggle:

Having spent a small fortune on mine I do wonder.....But, it all boils down to the fact that I now have a car that'll easily blow away a car which costs 100k or more!!

I must admit people who spend thousands on stereo's and bodykits just make me laugh......

I prefer a bit of substance to my modifications, and I can honestly say I have never bought anything for the sake of it!!

Steve :)

can somebody photoshop the word FAIL onto the number plate of that car please just to satisfy my sense of irony

I came across a couple of pics today of my car from when it was standard and I can't stand it, it looked awful.

Stuff like that I don't mind. You are actually doing something useful :giggle: , and nothing is pointless on your car. It's when I see people messing about with cars, and just doing things for the sake of it, I just think WHY?

Case in point is someone I know has just put EBC Track brake pads and drilled etc discs on a non-track based 1.1 Micra. Apparently the brakes are worse then they were before because they never warm up properly. The standard brakes were fine to start with.

Having said that, I'm just as guilty - I jet-washed the engine of my first car, and it wouldn't start afterwards. :dull:

Brilliant.

The brakes will be worth nearly as much if not more than the car!

Epic fail.

no point modifying it just bumps up the insurance costs and the car in my book is pretty damn quick as it is

and if you dont tell insurers what mods youve done and have a bump they dont want to know
