Porsche 4 pots? and VRS Rears on normal Octy?

Featured Replies

Two things id like to know!

Does anyone know which Boxster calipers fit with the 312mm disc?

There are so many to chose from, i know itts the rears but ive seen so many with different part numbers

Will any rear boxter caliper fit?

Also..................

Ive just been loking through Awesome GTI's web site and found some sort of spacer to fit Audi TT rear brake calipers to a normal MK4 rear beam!!!!!

Ive just fitted VRS rear brakes to my car and they went on okay!

Whats the spacer for????

Anyone help out on these two matters?

Spacers are for converting 4wd rear brake setups (TT'S, S3's) for use on 2wd setups.

Don't bother with Porsche rear brakes on it. If you're keeping 312mm discs, look here.

Sure if you contacted him, he'd do a deal without discs.

They look good! I take it these fit a MK4?

if you want cr@p brakes fit those, they are not matched to our master cylinder, you will get long brake pedal travel and naff braking with those calipers, plus they will no doubt be pretty heavy...

you must make sure you get the right ones as oet has said otherwise they will be crap!!!!!!

Is that the porsche ones or the ones on the link, or both?

no those in the ad are not for the car and are not porsche,

he has literally refurbed some bmw/merc/audi etc calipers and stuck on a brembo/porsche decal.

You need a specific caliper, search on ukmk1v.net or seatcupra.net for more info

Or of course the correct brembo gt caliper, sets always come up, i got mine on here from another member

Do you really need Porsche calipers for normal road use or am i just not driving mine hard enough

your not driving hard enough lol

They just give better braking force, just because youve got multi piston calipers on your car doesnt mean you have to drive like a mad man

... am i just not driving mine hard enough

There's a big difference between the braking ability of the vRS's OEM setup and the standard octy OEM setup

Even upgrading to vRS spec is worthwhile

the standard vrs brakes are really good I use bosch pads on mine and I drive hard and have NO brake fade at all... Very surprized at what there capable of....Lots of dust though... :D

So has anybody fitted four pots to theier Octy?

when pushed, vrs brakes are not up to the job, plenty of fade with continual abuse...

Yeah ive noticed that!

Just trying to find a decent braking setup for it

Anyone got any ideas?

yes brembo gt kit if you can find it, or the 4 pot genuine porsche kit that im selling ;)

but i thought that four pots werent an option due to the master and the ammount of pedal travel!?

no small piston sized four pots are 1000% improvement, its the large sized four pot calipers (like those ebay kits) or the some of the 6/8 pot kits that cause an issue.

I have brembo gts that are matched to the vw master cylinder, and some of the porsche kits are a goo alternative, you just dont want huge porsche calipers like you can find on some of the really fast models as their master cylinders will be much bigger than ours.

Nice

I take it they are standard size discs with boxster, 996 rears?

Also do the exsisting brake lines fit?

Edited by dannyboy759

custom lines, 325mm disks. 986 fronts a believe

so you cant use the standard front lines from the RS?

I take it the thread is different?

they go into the caliper totally different, plus braided ones are better, ill find the link for the hoses later
