Roomster radio change

Featured Replies

I've already posted this on the "Roomster owners" section of the site but the only responses I've had are from guys questioning why I would want to do this. Can anyone here offer any practical advice?

Hi there, first post having become the proud owner of a 2010 Roomster 1.9 Diesel SE just a week ago. The car is fitted with what I assume is the standard "Dance" radio CD unit. I would like to change this for the Bolero unit which is standard in the Yeti and some Octavias. Can anyone tell me if it's likely to be a straight swap or might I face problems?

Cheers

fabia mk2 owners have done this with the bolero & Columbus.

A search might yield a thread with the info you'll need.

I've come to the conclusion that the Bolero will not physically fit into the aperture left after removing the Dance HU. The bolero appears to be physically bigger than the Dance unit. Can anyone confirm that the Columbus will fit and importantly work with Roomster? It's a January 2010 model. Is the canbus compatable? Might I lose such things as the parking sensor dispaly?

Any help or advice welcomed.

Mick

I've fitted a Columbus to our Roomster, MY 2011. CANbus is fine and the parking sensors display is fine. I'm really pleased with the way the addition went, minimal VCDS coding and perfect integration with the Maxidot.

Columbus will fit fine, I tried one in my old vRoomster (pre Facelift) but I ran into CAN problems and eventually gave up. if it's a Facelift Roomster then in theory, there should not be to many problems, but physically, it will fit.

Maybe find some kind hearted soul local to you that will let you try a columbus from their car before shelling out £500 - 700 on one?

Hi, can you tell me what needed coding to get the car to see the nav correctly?

I have ordered a columbus for the mk2 fabia vrs, but need to know what needs coding with VCDS!

Cheers

IIRC the only coding you have to do is to the CANbus module (19) to tell it there is a Nav unit fitted, then reset the fault code on the Nav unit (37).

Well my columbus is here today, will get it installed tonight, but not coded until the weekend, will it work ok without coding..obviously mfd and steering wheel controls probably wont work.
