How do I remove the drivers door card/lining

Featured Replies

Can somebody point me to the instructions for removing the interior of the drivers door as my interior door handle stopped working. I can open the door from outside only and its getting a pain.

I think the cables come off??? this happened on the back doors and I have successfully removed the lining on the passenger side when window motor broke.

Thanks

Octavia 1, X plate with elec windows etc.

Drivers door:

- remove tweeter (pulls straight off)

- remove the piece of plastic with the electric mirror adjuster

- remove the small philips screw which was behind the mirror adjuster

- remove the torx screws around the bottom and sides of the liner

- remove the inside rubber bit of the grab handle

- pull up the switch control panel and unplug

- undo the 3 philips screws (they are different lengths, iirc)

- pull liner away from the bottom of the door and disconnect the puddle light

- lift the whole liner straight up (it clips along the top edge, next to the glass), so might require come wiggling

- disconnect the LED by the lock pin

- disconnect the door release cable (if still attached)

When this happened on my car, it was is the crimping on the wire failed and most of the wires parted company with the hook at the end. I got a new cable from my VW dealer and fitted it. Was a bit of a PITA to get it back onto the lock end though.

Thanks for that, I have a feeling that mine has pulled apart too from the way it stopped working.

Cheers

Remember to put the screw behind the plastic plate in first when refitting, because if you drop it you'll have to take the whole panel off again :)
