Traction control light

Featured Replies

Has anyone else got the problem that the traction control light keeps coming on. I thought it was after all the bad weather going over pot holes it jolted something. I've been told that it could be the ABS sensor and if it is can this be changed by me or is it a main dealer visit. I can't really give any more symptoms really sorry.

There's a good chance that it's an ABS sensor, sensor wire, or rotor. However, there are 4 of each (one set for each wheel), so a VCDS check is indicated to diagnose which corner the fault is at. Also, if it is one of these, the ABS won't be working correctly, so it needs sorting soonest.

Does it come on straight away? Or after a few mins driving?

Hope it's not like my oldman's Golf Plus that he just got rid of, the ABS pump controller went on, this in turn made the ESP light on his light up permantley. Very lucky for him the local dealer fixed this with a repair kit as it had a full VW history ( 18mths out of warranty )

to replace the unit they were charging over £1000, it's a very common issue with the BOSCH abs control units to fail on various makes. Particularly VW etc.

get a diagnostic on it, will show the error straight away.

I had the same problem, mine comes on after 10 minutes of the engine being switched on.

Heres my thread from when i asked the same question, have a look at the links in posts 2 and 3, thankfully thats what my problem is.

Hope yours is a simple fix!
