UPDATE - Engine pics added

Hi All,

I think I must have some kind of mental illness but after spending a lot of time and money (over £1500 in last 6 months) on getting my car running perfectly……I’ve decided to buy a new one (ordered already) and so she’s ready for a new home. This car basically needs nothing doing apart from some cosmetic bits and bobs.

It doesn't use any oil (I haven't had to top up in the last 4.5K I've had it), pretty much everything that wears out at this mileage has been done (apart from rear disks, noted in “bad bits†section) so she’s ready for another 100K, the receipts go way over £10K!!

The performance of this car is incredible with Jabba’s IHI VF34 conversion and running 325bhp, being honest, it’s more than I need or can handle. Would be great to see it go to someone who will really appreciate her as I use it as a family car!

Registered September 2002 (52), now on just over 113K, 12 Months MOT and is taxed until the end of Feb 2011.

I average about 38 mpg with combined driving which is incredible and on a 70mph run it will do 50mpg, other IHI owners have said the same. Seems to be a very easy to live with conversion. Ride is bloody firm though on the KW3s :)

Some pics here. These are from this week (7/2/11) and the car has only been cleaned and not polished so you can see then real condition of the paintwork.

Service History:

Has full Skoda and VAG indie service history plus pretty much every receipt, most of the miles have been long distance (she covered 30K in 2007-2008). Last service was at 109K so ages to go until the next one. Last service was Edge 5w-30 so long life but I'd recommend every 10K or more frequent.

09/09/2002 - First registration

16/10/2003 - 20K variable service (20,788 miles)

02/12/2004 - 40K variable service (38,381 miles)

05/11/2005 - 50K fixed service + IHI conversion (49,228 miles)

20/01/2007 - 60K fixed service + brake fluid + cambelt (60,250 miles)

09/06/2007 - 70K fixed service (70,937 miles)

06/10/2007 - 80K fixed service (80,647 miles)

98K 2nd cambelt change and second Lambda plus full service

107K New IHI VF34 - Old one had covered 60K before the exhaust housing let go (common and about right for the mileage)

108K Massive WRC spoiler removed and replaced with standard

108K New wishbone bushes

108K KW V3s inspected and new front springs fitted

108K Full service at MB including new OE spark plugs (£40 a set)

110K Jabba induction kit was replaced with S3 airbox, panel filter and 3" cold air feed to bumper (DV noise was driving me mad and the MAF was filthy from the cone filter)

110K New EBC Green pads with turbo disks, brake fluid also changed

110K Forge 007P to replace the knackered Bailey DV30

110K Mapping was checked over on the rollers at RS and all is good

111K Set of KU31 tyres

111K New rear top mounts

112K New drop links

112K New front lambda (the expensive wide band one)

113K New R32 FARB, Roll bar bushes, Inner CV boot on drivers side and the diff seals

113K Hunter 4 wheel alignment

113K New MAF and Pollen Filter

There are also a load of receipts for things that have been done but don't list the mileage, for example Quentin had the gearbox re-conditioned so you don't need to worry about that any more, plus it had a passenger side wheel bearing and just before I bought the car it had a new passenger side driveshaft put in as when the turbo was changed he realised that was shot too.

The bad bits:

• Quentin scraped the front wing and rear of the passenger side wing when he owned it. This was repaired and while the paint is super smooth, in certain light, you can see the colour difference. It’s fractional but I noticed it about a week after I bought it.

• Bonnet and bumper have a fair few stone chips (not really bad but I would have re-sprayed these in the long run if I was keeping)

• Rear bumper has a small scrape on the passenger side low down

• Sills are dented under the car, not a biggy but when Quentin had it, a garage tried to jack it in the wrong place and dented the sills.

• Rear brake pads/disks will need doing soon (they are not causing a problem but you can see there isn’t much pad left)

• Needs the door cards re-trimming to match the A3 Leathers (New black carpet will come with the sale)

• A loom needs making to power the lumbar adjustment on the seats (Again, parts and instructions included)

• Drivers side wheel arch liner (the one on the car was cut into for vents when it has a SMIC and this rubs a little on full lock, never got around to doing it) but a spare un modded one will come with it.

Spares / Extras Included (at least a few hundred quids worth here):

• Will come with the RS00SMD private plate

• A 5dr Golf GTI Black carpet (Mint condition)

• A brand new set of Golf mats in Black to go with the carpet

• Second had wiper motor (I thought mine was on its way out when it started clicking but it was just the arm that was loose)

• Fuel filter (haven't got around to fitting yet)

• Drivers side wheel arch liner

• 2x New Skoda badges, the ones on the car are a bit tired (not got around to fitting)

• A passenger side front speaker (just a random spare!)

• Parts needed to make a loom for the electric seats

Priced to sell at £4295

Sorry, will try to keep her in one piece for an easy sale........ the reason I'm selling is that I don't have time to tinker any more, certainly don't have time to break her!

Plus having just spent loads of time and money getting it sorted, that would be a crying shame!

Cheers for all the positive comments guys, I really wish she fit in my garage as I would keep her (bloody 1930's house with a tiny garage)!

Last night I worked out what she's worth is parts and it came to nearly £6K and that was with some low estimates, I wont break her but whoever buys should see it as a very sound purchase.

well I for one am hoping you fail to sell.

at least for a few weeks while I save my pennies ;)

Get a loan mate, you know it makes sense

not really an option :(

what insurance group is she in?

It'll still be a group 16 31 car (groups have changed)... with a lot of mods to declare :giggle:

GLWTS it's a lovely car

She looks real good with the small wing, and the interior is looking great. Starting to pine now thinking shall I get rid of the vectra and have her back mmm. Plate looks mighty fine on her too lol

Good luck with the sale looks awesome!. One thing I've always wondered with heavily modified cars like this is how you go about telling the insurers about every mod. There's loads on this so do they just get to a point and say "yes we get it. It's got loads of mods". Do you have to go into specifics about absolutely everything? Who did you get insurance with?

Getting a car like this insured is fine as long as you know where to go for it and also spend the time hunting around and making calls. You can rarely find a good deal in insurance from an online quote, normally they just say "sorry we cant insure this car" or give you a silly £7000 quote

The best thing to do is get 2-3 quotes and then play the insurers/brokers against each other to get the best deal. It takes a couple days but you can save a lot of money (£200-£500)

Plus there are mods you can declare and mods you must :) for example an R32 FARB looks identical to the original but is a few mill thicker....or TT wishbone bushes, again look identical.

Even the Turbo (and I'm not advising this but it crossed my mind) cannot be seen in any detail from the top or bottom of the car, there is just too much in the way and to remove it to take a look is 3-4 hours work so nobody is going to do that on the off chance that its not the OE model.

Also, some insurers base there quote on number of mods, others on BHP over standard. For example with this car you can insure it as 250bhp and then use the boost controller to turn it up when on a "private road" :p

But overall be aware that it is expensive as at the end of the day....its a 325bhp car, if you buy an Evo or an M3 you'll be paying over £1000 for insurance and this car is no different. I am 33, 6 points and have 1 "non fault" accident in 2009, I have 6 years NCB and the car (with all mods declared) cost me £1280 a year with it being parked on the street and averaging 10K miles a year.

I just re-insured it last week for 4K miles a year and having it parked on the drive, it came down to £768

The new pics look fantastic you have looked after her well, looking at the spec though there is a couple of mistakes I think

Scorpion cat back , from the new pics the exhaust looks like the one I had fitted at Exhausts UK in Sheffield which I think has a Lifetime warrenty it is a custom made one by Cobra and is full high quality stainless T304 grade http://www.exhaustsuk.co.uk/

Also I do believe she never had factory fit rear parking sensors

What a car though fantastic bargain at that price with the mods you have added, just to say this is one very fast car and now without the WRC wing a bit of a sleeper and a well sorted motor its new owner will be chuffed to bits. To be honest I thought she would have been gone by now and I think your barmy to let her go. One of the very first big turbo converted Octys and JabbaSport have to be commended for producing a great car.

Steve

FOR GOD SAKES SOMEBODY BUY HER THIS IS TORTURE FOR ME :'(

Pictures look good fella, looks a lot cleaner than you made it out to be!

See you Friday morning.

Just out of interest - do you have any pics of the engine bay?

Hi Steve,

Been having a look through the history and you are right, it was a custom build exhaust made in 2008 with a lifetime warranty

I presumed the parking sensors were factory as its a skoda kit but I suppose could be retrofitted.

There is a part of me that hopes nobody buys so I'm forced to keep her, this bloody garage issue (not big enough) is the big problem with that though as I've just bought an E90 325I M-Sport and don't really want to have that parked on the street as its worth way more than the Octy.

Anyway......lets see if anyone wants to step up and give her a new home :)

Thanks for that. I've always been put off by modifying because of insurance complications but it shouldn't be too bad. Just got to get a car that's worth modifying.

Good point! just grabbed a couple of pics this morning (lashing it down with rain)

I've added them to the add.

I'm a big fan of the OE look as if I was going to keep her, I would have sprayed the massive intercooler Black to make it more subtle.
