Injector cleaner during service

Featured Replies

Had car in for 50k (annual) service today - was loathe to use a Skoda dealer, and planned to use an independent now it's out of warranty, but unfortunately the car had to be low-loaded on Sunday due to breaking down. The dealer was the closest place, and I figured while they were fixing it, they might as well service it...

Anyway, it would appear they've used "injector cleaner" - I remember reading a post a while back from someone else who said they'd been charged for this too, and I was wondering how many people have found this used, and if it's now included as part of the service schedule?

I'm a bit annoyed if it's not part of the standard service schedule, but at the same time it's less than

how would you now if its been used or not? Take it this is the stuff that goes in the fuel tank.

It's on the itemised invoice...guess it is the stuff which goes in the tank, but not really sure...

It is an extra not part of the service.

Is it worth having done?

Not really, just another way for a dealer to make some more money out of you.

We charge extra for a top up pack on our services, pack includes a litre of the correct oil for your car, a paper funnel and some hand wipes. Its really a promotional thing but some people really like it, for those who dont we take the pack back and refund the charge.

It's the same with the infamous screen washer stuff - doesn't matter if it's full or not as it will get topped up after it gets tested - after all, post-testing it cannot be full as you've sprayed out a little

Way I look at it as that if I get charged for it anyway, I definitely won't be filling it up beforehand, so at least I get a little value for a lot of (relative) money.

Still, dealers do have to make their money too ;)

They charged me for the screenwash too, as I was too busy explaining what was wrong with it that I forgot to ask them not to do it.

On the plus side, I did get the bottle of concentrate which they were charging me for, so it hasn't worked out any more expensive than the stuff I buy from Halfords, etc. :D

So, injector cleaner is one for the list of things to ask not to be included next time if I have to use the dealer!

Rob.
